Walk in the woods from Gatehouse. A path/road loops around the hill and it was an easy ascent fro the south side, just east of windthrow. There are bike paths in there but they come and go. Summit windthrown as is now usual but it appears that the go is on the southern edge of the mess. | fasgadh | 29/04/2023 |
Roadside verge parking (NX 6063 5367). Walked 100m S on the road and took a good dirt road until it met the woodland then trods through to the HP. Nice deciduous trees, easy going through them. | jonglew | 07/02/2021 |
Parked near main road junction, along cycle route into woods. Along track to south of hill then up MTB single track which took me almost to top, amongst trees. | PeterD | 05/09/2020 |
Approach from E, 47 spot height. A faint track goes up to almost the summit from the forest track. | Adrian | 18/03/2019 |
1st of 4 tumps, but not a short day. Bus 431 from Gatehouse of Fleet to the A75 bypass then i walked back to the minor road that has a permissive path linking to woodland paths. Directly up through attractive broad-leaved woodland to a top then down and up to a slightly higher top in the spruce woodland. Descent to a track further up continuing onto Plunton Hill. | Dazingdale | 08/10/2018 |
