Please to get this in the bag. Bracken has die back and the brambles were not too bad | Andrew Simmons | 23/11/2023 |
Parked at 218 724. Walked in through a couple of fields and over barbie into regrowing forestry found deer path across to top. Probably better approach from E. | colazione | 04/02/2022 |
What is it with hills hereabouts that everyone logs as being difficult. Maybe I was lucky as I planned to go in winter. Excellent parking at point 69m junction above Roman Bridge. Lovely woodland walk above river to railway bridge and past a cottage. 200m further on cross field and steeply up, then across to summit ridge. The cairn is on a log next to a huge stump overlooking the roundabout. | Minto | 01/01/2022 |
Access to this summit has apparently become much more problematic in past 10 years. Briars, bracken, ditches, stumps and rotting logs defend the top from all directions. However a small cairn has been re-established. | lordtonult | 24/11/2021 |
Same route as CS, first part pleasant walk, but ascent from field horrendous through head high Bracken with occasional brambles then rough ground with tree stumps and new trees. Came back down ridge along faint path but soon disappeared. One for those wanting to complete UA. | PeterD | 13/10/2021 |
Parked at point 69. From Roman Bridge and then sylvan walk above the cascading river. Across field and then into nightmare territory of brambles, wild raspberry plants and bracken. Fortunately it is only May with arrested growth. Next month probably impenetrable. Great viewpoint again. | Campbell Singer | 27/05/2021 |
Clear felled. From Bankfoot by RoW over burn. Take higher of two leftward paths. At the end of this path a deer path ascends on your right all the way to the summit. Okay at this time of year but suspect bracken and brambles may be an issue in growing season. | bjewing | 15/03/2021 |
From South with J. Summit plastered with felled and now regrowing plantation with unpleasant ditches and brambles. | sclater | 30/06/2020 |

First of three. Took Chris' route - been looking at this hill for years. Roman Bridge looked amazing. Horrendously soggy field and stubborn bramble/broom brash to navigate. | iangpark | 25/02/2020 |
I found the terrain around the summit very hard work - perhaps trails are more obvious in winter when everything has died back | 49pp | 11/08/2019 |
Plenty parking at junc to SE as per Chris. Track from Roman bridge under railway, straight up edge of field and along ridge. Clearfell, but not too bad, some trails. | agentmancuso | 07/02/2019 |
3rd hill of 8 today after Scroggy Bank and Dunrod, descent via track to minor road to amazing Roman Bridge then on overgrown track underneath railway to private house but then climbed field to reach edge of felled forest remnants. Worked my way steadily over fairly level ridge descending carefully to reach track over river to main road, heading for Bargane Hill... | Dazingdale | 30/09/2017 |
A little bit better than Bargane. From roundabout, through field towards farm, then across bridge at farm and up tracks through clear felling to summit ridge. | Thearlaichdubh | 01/01/2017 |
From SE as per chrisbien, charming autumn woodland, straight up to top corner of pasture, path of sorts along ridge to treestump summit, decent view on a cold grey morning | RHW | 20/11/2016 |
From Roman bridge, overcast, dry, windy, good views. | iangalbraith | 03/01/2016 |
parked at roudabout down to farm across bridge up to the top. | robertphillips | 31/01/2015 |
Drumfrochar to Branchton. Patchy footpath from Roman Bridge before locating the harvester's track ENE of summit, which is still a brashy mess. | Smudge | 29/11/2014 |
P jnct 69m. Path from Roman bridge - under railway - through field then detritus left from chopping the wood down. | chrisbien | 01/01/2014 |
Woodland summit but quite easy to walk through mature trees. | campagvelocet | 27/01/2011 |
