From Innerwick. Along Lairig Ghallabhaich track, then then alongside old fence and up the north east shoulder of hill on short cropped heather.
Descended south which was much more tussocky, to pick up the zig zag path and back to the car park. Short cutted back to the car park by fording the river and going through a deer gate at approx NN 581 482.
Lovely sunny day but not too hot. | Fife Walking | 02/09/2023 |
From Innerwick. Missed the streamside path on the way up, so had to backtrack to reach the FB. Didn't find any path off the track beyond the FB either, but it didn't matter much as the going to the top was fearly benign. On the descent I found the short route back by the stream. At top, could see everything but The Ben. Only 5 more Grahams to go!!! | IanHHill | 21/06/2023 |
From Bridge of Balgie car park with Beinn Dearg, clockwise. First and last hours lovely weather, heavy showers in between. No clag though. Hags bad on Dearg. | Rounsfell | 10/05/2023 |
Creag Ard, Beinn Dearg and Meall a'Mhuic from excellent car par at Innerwick. With FY. | TRG318 | 19/04/2023 |
Having previously tried to walk up Meall a'Mhuic without a map and found myself on top of Meall nam Maigheach, I was more cautious this time. From Innerwick, along the grassy track E of the stream, over the wooden bridge partially concealed by a bend in the track, along the track heading NW until, at 360m elevation, a heathery track surreptitiously leaves it to zigzag up the prow of Meall a'Mhuic, leaving a walk over gently angled heather slopes to the summit, which is a really outstanding viewpoint. | Nick Down1 | 10/03/2023 |

From Glen Lyon. Easy ascent but needs careful route finding. The L fork along the river before the plantation is indistinct. The final fork right is 100m S of the junction on the 1:50k map and marked by 2 small cairns. | Galltywenallt | 21/04/2022 |
Circuit from Innerwick. Sunny, cold wind. | thekirkie pirate | 20/04/2022 |
From the car park at Innerwick. The 1:25K map is, ahem, somewhat inaccurate, showing tracks that don't exist or are submerged in bracken and not showing tracks that do exist, and the OS add to the confusion by not mapping all the fences. When you've figured out the puzzle, the best way is along the main track to a fenced plantation and sheep feeder, where you can get down to the old riverside track, along this, over the bridge and up the bulldozed track to a junction. The correct way is on the old track running parallel with the new track for a few yards and not the track going straight ahead, which I found runs out, but easy enough going up a tiny grassy stream which brings you to the hill track soon enough. This goes up to great piles of rocks amongst heather, then a bit higher. A boggy, grassy ATV track goes up to a post and then shows the way across a tussocky area before expiring at the foot of nice, easy short heather, which takes you to the top. A morning of very light drizzle, | Gill | 21/08/2021 |
The only souls in the Innerwick car park on a sunny Christmas eve morning, we walked along icy tracks and over frosted peat and heather to Meall a' Mhuic. The track going half way up is a real help. As the threatened snow showers didn't materialise we continued NW to take in Meall nan Sac. What would otherwise have been a soggy, boggy mudfest was instead a crisp saunter up, down and through frozen haggs, so onto Meall nam Maigheach and its northern sister, before descending along Meall an Fhuarain to a forest track back to the car. A great way to kick off our Covid-compliant Christmas! 3.45hrs. | summitter | 24/12/2020 |
From Cam Chreag. Steeply off the ridge SE of the summit, then pathless bypassing Meall nam Maigheach to the NW to point 621. ENE crossing the stream at 490m, then steep mostly heathery slopes to the gentle final slopes. | Owen B | 21/09/2020 |

From Inverwick up track to 550m then scaturated peat to summit. High winds and snow showers. cairn partially levelled to rubble | cjo | 03/03/2019 |
Took the tent down for an early start to beat the rain. Did not quite make it nut not as bad as forecast. From the church in Glen Lyon to Craig Aird; Beinn Dearg and over to Meall a Mhuic. Return track due S did not seem to exist though the two on either side clearly did. | dickscroop | 24/08/2018 |
Up and down. Solo. | Dangerous Dave | 16/04/2018 |
From estate picnic site with toilets. Up track other side of burn & took boggy track between burn & forest. Missed the start of track up S ridge so we built a small cairn on our way back. The start of the track doesn’t look like it continues as it does a left & runs parallel to main track. 4 hours 40 in snow. | rogreeves | 31/03/2018 |

With Stevie n Tay. ketzster had climbed Cam Chreag and Meall a'Mhuic before meeing us on the way down from Beinn Dearg. I went off on my own to climb Meall a'Mhuic. Thoroughly enjoyed myslef despite getting lost in the rain and mist coming down and losing the gloves I had bought specially the year before to climb the In Pinn. ketzster and Stevie n Tay went mad at me when I got back to Innerwick because they were worried I had taken so long... | Yeltzbagger | 12/08/2016 |

From Innerwick up south ridge to Meall a' Mhuic, then straight across to Beinn Dearg | Gallovidian | 28/02/2016 |
Day trip from Stonehaven. Solo. Made a circular walk by going from Innerwick in Glen Lyon almost to the highest point of the Kirk Road that goes over to Loch Rannoch and then striking WSW to the summit of Meall a' Mhuic. Much pathless heather but not too thick or high. Descended the south ridge. Is the highest point really a few metres SW of the cairn. Could it not be hidden within the cairn itself? | pwbellarby | 27/09/2015 |

Combined from Innerwick with Cam Chreag and Beinn Dearg. This one may be best climbed alone; much of the ridge is rough, wet, covered in thick heather and devoid of even animal tracks. | Topographer57 | 20/06/2011 |
