From Craig Tara Caravan Park, along the coast, across the bottom end of golf course then up via a couple of gates. I wouldn't take the twa dugs as there's lots of wee, sleekit, cowrin, tim'rous soay sheep.Straight up from the coast isn't recommended as it's a sludge fest.DavieRuts19/03/2024
Parked westbound layby just before Largs. Took track just west of Largs and thn across fields to top and trig.colazione18/01/2024

With Extended Household from Greenan Castle CP along Ayrshire Coastal Path to minor path up through fierce woodland undergrowth to bw fence. Touched trig, summited and rejoined ACP to walk around The Heads of Ayr. Looking up from the water-line was the highlight of the outing.lordtonult01/01/2021
Early morning haze. Lay by parking.Play2End26/02/2019
After Drumshang. Along the Ayrshire coastal path from Dunure. The path is dire. Very poorly signposted. Eventually got to top in field and bagged the trig as well. Then down to the golf course, up through Butlins and plod back along the road to Ayr station. HoA looks impressive in profile.Thearlaichdubh03/12/2017
From layby to South over field at Bower Hill.NormanW17/08/2017
2nd hill of 6 today on a route from Ayr to Maybole having climbed Kirkland Hill as an out and back from Achensoul. I dropped my large rucksack in the garage of my Airbnb property in Maybole before driving to Ayr to leave off car hire. I got a lift to Ayr and walked from there past the castle. Great for birdlife. Climbed over fence into thin strip of woodland then perimeter of golf gourse to fence then keeping with the fence to the open pasture and to the grassy summit. Visited trig too before descending to a track that i followed to the main road.Dazingdale13/05/2017
parked layby near largs, track then pasture to the flat top.robertphillips01/02/2017
Parked in layby west of Largs then took track east of Low Glenayes to Bower Hill to bag the flattish TUMP summit of Heads of Ayr and then the lower Bower Hill trig.Dugswell203/06/2016
Parked on the dirt road beyond the caravan site, past the sewage works and along the beach. A golf course and fields led to the summit area, with a labyrinth of hawthorn moating the top fieldColin Crawford01/06/2016
A change in the weather today-cool and breezy. Cycled over from the Range caravan park and locked the bike up in the Head of Ayr caravan site and walked over the fields to the top. Bit hazy today.Walker Dan13/05/2016

Up through thick undergrowth from SE (not recommended). Down to SW.campagvelocet28/07/2008
Parked at entrance to Farm park, follow track to golf course, then round edge till gate. A faint path from here takes you nearly all the way, but you'll be savaged by nettles, brambles, thistles & hawthorn on the way. Still, nice setting.agentmancuso10/06/2008
First climbed back in 1974 with David L. More recently on detour from Coastal Path. Top in field and Trig. The Captainblank
