High point can be bagged outwith the castle, but seemed churlish not to enter, and as free with English Heritage m'ship it seemed doubly churlish not to... and with a guided tour from a lovely Scottish lady thrown in, what could be better! | jonglew | 16/03/2024 |
As HES members my wife and I took guided castle tour. Still can't persuade her to embrace tumping. | lordtonult | 08/08/2022 |
Nice castle. Highest part partially boxed off by fencing due potential masonry collapse. | Adrian | 07/05/2022 |

Used to cycle up here routinely as a kid. Date recorded is first time that I know a date for my visit. Climbed up castle to look over high point. With Sarah, Keeva and Seumas. | assynt_bob | 30/09/2017 |
So, how many UK tops have castles on them? A prize to the first correct answer and a prize to the first to visit them all. | summitter | 24/06/2017 |
2 mins work from main street. | agentmancuso | 20/05/2017 |
2nd hill of 4 today after Wardlaw Hill. I parked in Dundonald and after cappuccino and cake i visited the bump in front of the castle before climbing up to the top floor. Lovely views of the wooded escarpment. I walked around the castle and returned to car, heading for Craigie hill. | Dazingdale | 06/05/2017 |
A short walk up from the car park. Beautiful views from the top. | bolieve | 26/05/2015 |
After work at Irvine site. Drove up to CP and walked to top, doesn't cost anything if don't go into the old keep. Fab views. | nordicstar | 09/06/2014 |
