Kayak from Ross Bay, limited P Blackstone, easy put in for 25 mins paddle, lumpy 90 mins before spring high water, impatient! Pebble beach landing N end. Fast boat came charging up just after I landed, hung around and watched me leave 20 mins later having explored 2 lights and 2 highpoints, SW summit an inch or so lower I reckon. Easier paddle back but still sizeable waves from S along sound and 14mph breeze made last few mins into bay harder workRHW05/07/2019
Kayak from Brighouse bay on a perfect calm early evening. 35 mins out, 45 back against the tide. Circumnavigated the island after landing near the north tip and there was a bit of a tide race off the southern tip even on a neap tide. Wouldn't want to be here on springs with a wind against the tide.AndyS29/04/2019
Kayak from Ross Bay with Andrew Thorburn. Beautiful calm conditions, 20 mins each way . Landed on South shore. Explored the high points either side of the lighthouse.Dazingdale14/10/2018
Kayak from Ross Bay.Lovely island.bjewing14/07/2018
Kayaked from Brighouse Bay - public loos and free car park - (sand/rock) after finding nowhere to get the boat in the water at Ross Bay (mud). 1hr out, 50mins back. 2 possibly HPs with the lighthouse buildings between them so cannot be seen from each other: either large boulder by flagpole, N side compound; or grassy mound, W side accommodation block. Set out 90mins before high tide, had no problem with the famed tidal race round the island although sea a lot lumpier on the return, particularly at Fox Craig and Mull Point.jonglew12/07/2018
