From Glenwhappen Dod, down through the forest and then up the recently felled trees. Back down the other side and joined the forestry path back to my car. Sole of my right boot came off so had to cut my day short. | JAdair97 | 27/05/2023 |
Bike loop of the forest road from the A701. Great descent anti-clockwise. Hill now clearfelled, followed extraction track up. Good views over to Broad Law | fasgadh | 02/04/2023 |
Biked up the forestry track from A701 to near the top, top now clear of trees. | robertphillips | 11/02/2023 |
Parked at NT053~202 Followed the forestry track as it weaved it's way north on reaching Ewe Hill straight up through the trees mature and well spaced | Andrew Simmons | 23/04/2022 |
Parked up in wide logging road entrance off A701 ~800m N of Fingland (NT 0544 2029). Up onto Black Dod, Great Hill and Whitecamp Brae first. From there continued on unmapped WF road initially then steeply down Ferney Cleuch to pick up a logging road. Followed round for 500m then took break heading NNE, but easier going through trees so picked up the break at NT 0520 2253 before veering of into trees nearer the summit. On the return was stymied by a massive area of wind throw following the break heading due E. Circumnavigated that to the N to pick up a logging road at NT 0550 2281, followed it SE and S for ~450m then a good break heading SE to hit the road a bit NE of Glenbreck. A mostly pleasant 12.8k round. | jonglew | 19/01/2022 |
By track from S. No firebreaks were harmed or used in this walk. The start of the FB from the E has been quarried. Went up through the trees and then came back more to S. Steep but easy through the trees. | chrisbien | 10/07/2017 |
Donald and Tump round from Tweedsmuir. Approached from Coomb Dod, along firebreaks. Good break crosses the summit area, with the top a little way inside fairly open trees. Spooky place on an overcast day, with stringy moss dripping from the trees and a host of red fungi on the forest floor | Colin Crawford | 11/10/2015 |
