Logged Descriptions  (logged by 17 users)ByDate of Ascent
From the Dawick layby, past the farm and up to the gate between the woods. Headed north from there until got to a forestry commission sign. Pushed my way through the pine trees to the summit.JAdair9719/07/2023
From Dawyck Mill. Summit in forest.Adrian26/06/2023
Parked due E, at start of logging road (NT 2118 3524) - road very active at the moment with logging lorries and copious warning signage. Stayed with the 'road' to Dead Wife's Grave (not mine!), then took good track along SE side of wall and into plantation on a wee trad at NT 1941 3557. Backtracked to the grave (not seen) and on to Breach Law.jonglew08/09/2022
Parked at the entrance to Dawyck Mill Up straight up the hill and along the edge of the conifers diving in once in line with the HP. Not as bad as I though and found the top quickly with the help of GPSAndrew Simmons29/06/2021
Track from near hallmanor cottagerobertphillips01/11/2020
Parked in walkers car park NT183 373,JBW to where it leave track, continue up track to go through gateway into grassy pasture, straight ahead to gateway at far end, through and left to pick up track which starts to climb and bears around to right towards grouse butts on map ( do not exist ) it then goes left up towards forest wall, at the wall go over the only bit of wooden fence and enter the trees 1mtr to the right to find a gap to little grassy area, from hear it is a lot of branch breaking straight ahead to get you to the summit. GPS advisable to get you there.Anton19/09/2020
Bike up from Hallmanor. Last bit Sitka Hell, best to grope in along the rigs from the ride south of the summit which is hard to place. On to Syke, a delight.fasgadh11/07/2020
2nd and last hill of two today on a route from Peebles to Dawyck gardens. Route took me past Niedpath castle, Kirkton manor and Syke hill before using track up past White Knowe and then inside perimeter of forestry enclosure. I used the ride near gate which is part of the older plantation and then forced my way across the newer plantings and eventually came to a small clearing with a small puddle where i could see no higher point from every direction. Fun route twisting and turning through conifers to exit. Descent to Dawyck via track (old drove road) using 'Dead wives Burn to profile around the medieval village to access track into German hill wood turning off to Shaw Brae to then climb over gate into Dawyck gardens where i made my way to the reception to promptly pay!Dazingdale04/05/2016
P start of track S of Hallmanor Cottage. Track and Old Drove Road. Up E side of wall to high point then into the trees. Much easier out by going along the line of trees (SW) to firebreak and track.chrisbien27/02/2016
Bit of tree thrashing involved. Firebreak cuts off east from high point on edge of forest then a short foray into the youngish trees takes you to a small clearing, which I assumed to be the high point.Colin Crawford20/04/2015
