With Malky after a night in Cadderlie. Blue sky, gentle cold breeze, 2C and frosty out of the sunshine. From Glen Lonan. Parked at bridge c800m E of Clachadow and up faint vehicle track just W of house, then S through steep woods and heather to Lochan nam Breac Reamhra. Found little-used vehicle track just W of Glac Garbh on way down. Drove to Edinb after. | Rounsfell | 11/12/2023 |
Fell running shoes on for a 1.40 pm start (after morning dog walking duties at Taynuilt.) Dark at 5pm so only 3 and half hours to push hard solo linking 8 tops.
Very mindful and enjoyable challenge picking the best lines through the rough terrain - fast hiking and jogging -lots of marshy bogs. Good track start here to phone mast -met Keith Adams - a Glasgow based marilyn bagger - both surprised to meet anyone out here in this lonely landscape. 1hr up from road | Chris Pearson | 09/11/2023 |
Up windfarm track for a look at Deirdies Sheiling then across moor to 02 mast and Beinn Ghlas. Down track from mast. | daviemore | 11/06/2023 |
Parked at approx 974284, 200 yds E of track used. Route up more or less same as Gill. Contoured round N side of E top on descent. | duchally | 19/05/2023 |

A nice walk from the good track starting E of Duntanachan. It goes a lot further up the hill than mapped so it is worth continuing on it all the way to the mast. Across to the E side of the E top, past grassy bumps and peat hags, joining a good path. Over the E top, down to the fence, step over then up to Beinn Ghlas past the lochan. On the way down, I found that the good path goes all the way to the mast, slightly E of the ridge line. | Gill | 13/06/2021 |
8th top of 15 on an epic circuit from the Taychreggan hotel climbing Casteal Suidhe Chennaidh, Casteal Achadh na Craoibhe, Cruach Airdeny South top, Cruach Airdeny, Cruach Mheadhonach, Carn Gaibhre, Beinn Ghlas East top and this the highest point of this walk, the 2nd highest of my 2 week adventure. Continuation to West top.... | Dazingdale | 06/05/2019 |
4of4: From East Top. | ChrisR | 02/10/2018 |
As N.Morters but continued on track to O2 phone mast at NM969265 - path onwards to a top which features a cattle grid sign - some traces of paths/trods to summit. | Chris Peart | 10/08/2018 |
After east top. Newish fence across bealach, gate a couple of hundred yards south of col. Heather and grass, with plenty of bog cotton to show how wet it would have been but for recent drought. Cloud not far above summit, maybe about 600m, but dry now and warming up. View hazy, Paps of Jura just discernible. Down towards west top. | mainnirnamfiadh | 13/07/2018 |
Early start today for this and two other Tumps as it was a long walk down to Oban for the ferry to Barra. | Alex C | 13/08/2017 |
Parked off-road at NM953277, from where a track took me up the first 100m of ascent. When it seemed to veer off unhelpfully, I bashed on through a hard-going knee-high sea of dead grass. Took a more direct route back down. Here are the navigational notes I made at the time:
The track starts almost at the road, but doesn't become really evident until 95587 27554. It takes you through the lower deer fence and comes to a T junction at 95629 27337. On the way back (i.e. the better route) I came out on this track to the west of the junction. There are also gates at 96083 26845, 95747 26455 and 95469 26839.

Parked near bridge 974284 between the garden and Dunanachan. Took track up hillside for height then ploughed over hillside to summit, didn't visit the radio tower off to the left on skyline, track may go up to it and might save some hill bashing. Summit is further than it looks in soft porridge snow. Return same way. | N.Morters | 24/02/2017 |
Ah, got you! 4th time up this valley. Easy walking up new bulldozed track and 4x4 track through gates in deer fence. Undulations above there to challenge us in the mist. | jenx | 06/01/2016 |
With Jenx, parking to the west in only decent spot in the valley, at the bridge over burn. Followed badly eroded ATV track up to wire gate in deer fence. Then at fork on track the right branch until a grassy ATV track led off. This can be followed to top deer fence and gate. From here 300m across undulating fell to summit. Very wet most of the way, wellys order of the day. | nordicstar | 06/01/2016 |
east of clachadubh up side of burn to top. | robertphillips | 09/08/2015 |
Nice little hill in the Thursday afternoon sunshine with glorious views of Cruachan.
Worryingly, lost Chris Watson for about an hour and was in worried disaster scenario mode, relieved to finally find his phone eventually switched on again and that he was ok. | vegibagger | 11/06/2015 |
From Glen Lonan with Deadh Choimhead | Geoff Briggs | 29/05/2014 |
From east of Clachadubh on a fine spring afternoon. No paths. Steep ascent on wet grass to about 400 metres, thereafter mostly rough heather. The area has been recently planted with saplings and enclosed by a high deer fence, I found a gate through the lower fence but no gate in the upper fence, climbed it on the way up, squeezed under it on the way down. | Topographer57 | 11/03/2014 |

from E top. Top was a mile further on with large loss of height. More trudge, odd buggy tracks and to top at 11.45. Vicious S wind. Mossy sturdy shepherds cairn. | arranc | 06/10/2005 |
Up steep sides from road. Lots of water in the summit panorama. | Eddie | 19/11/2003 |
