From Hopehouse, parked by phone box (NT 2954 1648). Took Captain's Road for ~700m then peeled off for Ward Law (see that log for route info) then Cowan's Croft -> Fall Law -> Shepherdscleuch Rig. From there dropped back down to Captain's Road as planned route SE now covered with conifers. After ~200m took unmapped logging road to where it crosses Rough Grain, then a route over rough and wet ground to here. Dropped down to re-join Captain's Road at the fords for a pleasant, despite wet gound, 15.2km walk.jonglew30/10/2021

Descent from Captain’s Road ... use the new forest road or fall foul of a still active goml (2020 and they still exist!) with a good line in obstruction in the glen. Easy ascent from the bulldozed horror through cattle grazed hill pasture. Weather, like on all today’s hills was foul with a sustained gale on top. Returned to car , parked under Berry Knowe via easy climb up the B709fasgadh13/09/2020
