From Cauldcleuch Head. Had planned to head out to Great Moor HIll but was short of time so headed east over the 608m top and dropped down to the Cat Sike burn that forms a natural firebreak in the forest covering the northern slopes. A few fallen trees to negotiate on way down and had to cross the burn from one side to the other a few times before pushing through final line of trees to reach forest track. Continued following burn down from forest track which was rough going to the sheepfold at foot of glen and back up to the main track just south of Dun Rig. Short climb from track up to top then followed ATV tracks north before dropping back down to main track at Shiel Cottage and back out to Priesthaugh Farm. | Jossker | 18/10/2023 |
As others parked at Priesthaugh and followed the track to the forest edge. Short pull from there to HP. | Andrew Simmons | 18/07/2021 |
Parking for a couple of cars at an old quarry (NT 4680 0230). Direct line to top from there. | jonglew | 11/11/2020 |
Parked at end of track NT466047, track South to jct then left climbs steadily and turns intono path which tacks you towards forest edge, the faint - hit and mis - path bears right towards top. | Anton | 24/08/2019 |
From Priesthaugh, using overgrown track to Pt401m. I returned steeply down to the western track, a much easier walk back | Colin Crawford | 26/06/2019 |
