Parked a few yds W of 943275 bridge. Went alongside burn(a few hidden holes) & as water low, crossed at 94523-27600. Once got to track, route as per Gill's good description. | duchally | 19/05/2023 |
Parked by the cattle grid a couple of yards east of the route to the ford. Crossed this, shipping only a small quantity of water and followed Gill's route. The summit views are among the best, with a panorama of islands, water and mountains from Mull to the Cruachan group. | Nick Down1 | 15/04/2023 |
As per Gill.Straightforward and a superb viewpoint.Worth saving for a good day. | ARM | 25/02/2023 |
From NM 9461 2745. A fine small hill. | summitsup | 03/10/2022 |
Beautiful sunny day with Yeltzbagger. A bit awkward crossing the river at the start but easy coming back. | Stevie n Tay | 08/05/2022 |
Route as per Hughs book and Gill. Parked just past the house near the ford. Over stream and straight up good paths all the way. Very pleasant hill with great views from the summit. Up to the top in just under 45 mins, less than 1hr 30 round trip. | JulieB | 07/05/2022 |
Gill's route spot on. Very surprised to find a path almost to the summit. On a clear day it was a delightful hill. | Crumblie2 | 15/10/2021 |
As others note, there is a well cared for path all the way to the summit. The start of the track to the ford is unclear, just walk across the sheep field to the ford. Vehicle crossing is deep but a good shallow ford for people is a few yards down stream. Then just follow the track to the gate, then it becomes a very pleasant path through the trees. Cross straight over the logging road, path continues, to exit the trees at scree below the crag. Follow NW up through bracken, taking the lower fork NE below the steep nose, up the small valley, where the path fades then becomes clear heading to a gap E of the big crag above. Unbelievably easy. I wish I had followed the lower fork on the way up the hill, it would have been a lot easier than the tussock fest I followed up hill, though I'm proud to have found a way up in thick mist. | Gill | 13/06/2021 |
Good parking at the bridge - 943275. River crossing ok then followed track through gate, turning right after 20 yards. On reaching logging road, followed for 800 yds then struck upwards close to rubble pile. Easier higher up. Well under 2 hour return. Solo. | bolton | 28/09/2020 |
Unfinished business from year ago when heavy rain/snow melt deterred the ford crossing. From south on track, it’s upward progress cut across by the logging track (not mapped). Unlike others crossed over and up the continuation of the minor track. Recent chainsaw work cleared the windfall, then shrinks to path to exit woods below a small Crag/scree. Turned on the left (west) there are 3 cairns close together at the base of scree to help identify route back into woods to path. Strpeep slope zig zags through bluffs on vague path and onto rocky summit. Outstanding viewpoint northwards. Sunny day and startled a Sea Eagle off the ground barely 80m away when nearing summit. Nice little hill 2 of 2 Marilyn | N.Morters | 03/08/2019 |
Parked to south n followed track which amazingly went to almost the summit. | Adrian | 08/07/2019 |
2of4: From Glen Lonan at Chlachadubh. | ChrisR | 02/10/2018 |
Parked roadside at start of mapped track (NM 9462 2747). Right fork once over the gate and into the woodland - track here very faint but meets a good logging road at NM 9455 2798. Followed this approx 500m ENE until an opportunity presented to take a route up the hill, northerly for first 300m, then northwesterly for the top. Trog pillar remains marks the summit. | jonglew | 25/07/2018 |
From Clachadubh, over ford, up via forest tracks and then traces of a path once out of the trees. Fallen trees in forest are fairly easily avoided. | Winterfloodian | 31/05/2018 |
9th tump of 14 on a route from Kilmore to North Connel with Adrian climbing Dun Iadain ,Torr Dhamh, Tom Donn, Corr Chnoc, An Car, Cnoc Eoin and Torr an Tuirc and Glenamacrie hill descending to road to cross burn, Adrian followed road Nw to climb Cruach Glenamacrie West top whereas i headed along forest fringe to climb through forest then up grassy ramp and behind majestic outcrops to the summit, recording 385m @ NM 94687 28640. Onwards to Creag Ruigte... | Dazingdale | 19/05/2018 |
Parked with permission NM 947 274 on house forecourt. Track from NM 9444 2785 not obvious and blocked in parts by fallen trees. especially at junction with new logging road at NM 9452 2800. This contours round the hill to an ascent route up a very steep grassy slope at NM 9502 2824. Heather summit | carole engel | 13/05/2018 |
Parked off-road at: NM953277.

Difficult to see a route up that doesn't involve at least some bashing through forestry. There's a massive new track which contours along the south side (not shown on OS map) but it doesn't particularly help. Beautiful little viewpoint once you get there though. | Colinmac2005 | 15/05/2016 |
Crossed at ford, wellies unnecessary, dry, cold wind, good views, some sun. | iangalbraith | 30/04/2016 |
A good steep climb heading for more open slopes to the right after reaching the big new track. A goog viewpoint. | jenx | 03/01/2016 |
With Jenx from small bridge on the minor road directly opposite on south side. Folow the burn to where it meets a smaller one and cross. Make for the tall lonesone pine and cross 10m to right and gain a small track. Follow this up left and then right to main forest track. Across this to gain a grassy couloir which can be followed to near summit. Old trig in bits! | nordicstar | 03/01/2016 |
clachadudh ford burn through woods to top. | robertphillips | 09/08/2015 |

From Clachadubh on a sunny spring morning. A track fords a stream (warning #1: the stream may not be fordable dryshod, I took it barefoot) and leads through the forestry, across a heavy duty forestry track (warning #2: several fallen trees must be circumvented) to the open hillside. The heathery crags can be bypassed on short grass. Great views of Mull, Glen Etive and a snowcapped Ben Cruachan. | Topographer57 | 11/03/2014 |
From Glen Lonan. Easy enough through trees to summit. | AndrewFinnimore | 28/08/2013 |

With Mora from Glen Lonan at nm 945274 | BLACKHILL | 02/11/2012 |
Walked up from Glen Lonan and then down northnortheast to Clais Dhearg. Some nasty forestry to get through on both sides of the summit. | Alex C | 06/08/2012 |
Lovely view point today with Jim Bloomer. | Dugswell2 | 08/06/2012 |

Revisit. Shattered remnants of a cylindrical trig, with evidence of FB recess, lying around the still-intact centre Bolt. No FB or spider. Fine crag-girt summit, hard to reach thru dense Sitka with a few steep crags to avoid. From SW, beeline from 941280 ran into awkward crags; descended SW, found a track at head of stream, followed this SSE, exited at 942942, then rushy wet pasture back to bridge. This latter route possibly the best. | RHW | 01/09/2007 |
Ascended after Beinn Ghlas from track near Clachadubh. | JohnW | 24/06/2007 |
Across stream in wellys on green track into forest. Narrower to right and uphill. Some footprints up through trees to forest edge, underneath scree slopes and up a grass rake to final heaves of hill. Using hands around back of final crag to top at 14.05. Fierce gale. | arranc | 03/09/2004 |
Failed at the so-called ford. Restarted at the road bridge, climbed and found old bridleway. | Eddie | 19/11/2003 |
From G.Lonan. While we climbed the Hill, the F.C. had picnic at car; disturbed by stampede of Heilan' Coos. With S. | The Captain | 16/04/2003 |
Date is first visit. Notes from later...fine little hill, superb viewpoint (hence name apparently - HMcL). easy river xing 950275, +/- easy passage thru mature spruce; skirt/scramble crag; heather to summit | RHW | 26/12/2000 |
