Jog up the track from the SW, small track all the way to the trig point.Tisteln27/08/2023
From the track at the bend of Fingland Red Cleuch which is easily followed to where track branches off right to trig pillar. Was going to head for Criffel but heavy rain came in so we opted to come back another day for that one. Returned the same wayWayne Mac29/12/2022
Parked near Kirk Brae for long circular route. Took farm track to reach top of Broadfield Height. Continued with some traversing to reach steep climb to Breckonside Hill. Negotiated rough ground to reach approach to Big Hill from E. Returned to E and took track through felled forestry to join ridge and reach summit of Yadburgh Hill. On to Scaw'd Fell via steep descent and ascent. Descent to Garrogill and path climbing ENE to emerge to N of Ewelairs Hill. Continued to Ewelairs Hill, Ruegill Hill, Black Hill and rough ground on firebreak through to Laverhay Heights. Continued to Criffell and rough route through trees and then track to Fingland Fell. Descent W (some track, rough felled ground and then pasture) to reach the road and wealk back to start. Some rough ground on this route, particularly in forestry sectionsRobertP25/08/2022
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Parked at gate for a lovely later afternoon walk up the big track to the trigpoint. Met two stalkers on the way down with a menacing looking gun.thejackrustles07/07/2022
From the locked gate to SW Track all the way to the top. Onto CriffelAndrew Simmons24/04/2022
fingland fell and criffel from the locked gate to the SW.robertphillips05/01/2022
Unused gate at NY 1434 9396 seemed like a safer parking spot than the forestry entrance - signs of recent logging activity everywhere. Stone track all the way to trig - the last section not on the map, shown just as fire break. Great views all round. Had wanted to carry on to Criffel (the neighbouring hill), but blocked by tall barbed wire. Decided to leave that to another day, and take a different route.Toby-and-Dion18/07/2021
Roadside verge parking (NY 1442 9379). Gate was open, could have easily driven up but chain/combo lock hanging there menacingly... it was still there when I walked out 90mins later. Forest all clear felled. On to Crifell.jonglew16/10/2020
On way back from Criffel. Now clear felled with a stone track all the way to the trig.chrisbien06/09/2018
Walked from forest gate at S end of plating - Sunday so gate chained and padlocked - easy fence adjacent. Lots of felling up top and lower down, latter still ongoing. No logs on upper track, just stacks of brashings. Summit felled so there is a nice view inc down to the Solway Firth.RocksRock22/10/2017
From Loft Shaws. Easy stroll along the old firebreakColin Crawford28/09/2015
Summit and trig now with clear of trees with great views to south and west across to Criffel as I sit leaning back on the trig.vegibagger11/08/2015
