From Loch Glashan.Having tried all 3 firebreaks from the main forest track the easiest two are the one about 7 metres past the 4 logs spanning the ditch (entrance not promising looking) or the wide swathe immediately beyond. If using the log one up to a large blue bucket and traverse right for 10 metres then up again until below the grassy ramp. This route is dry underfoot with no branch fighting. If using the wide swathe option(bit boggy lower down) then up until an easy traverse left leads to a grassy ramp leading upwards.ARM06/05/2023
Thanks Nigel for the tip about driving to Birdfield Quarry. Parked just before, then took good track running S starting E of the old quarry to fence and gate. Faint ATV track comes and goes up the burn below Creag Chaise, then strike out to the fence, then tussocks and coo tracks up the bogs to the head of the valley, then shitey heather and tussocks, eventually finding a very old, faint ATV track running close to the pointy, grassy, dry summit. Takes longer than the short distance would indicate because it's pretty rough despite the intermittent tracks.Gill17/01/2022
9th top of 11 on a 22.8km linear traverse from bus stop south of Birdfield, continuing from Cnoc Buidhe heading South through woodland to reach a track and then veerfing off this to break out of the forest and climb up past the 303m spot height and then onto the top beside the Trig. Onwards to the West top..Dazingdale11/09/2021
Parked a couple of hundred yards up the unpaved road above Birdfield (with permission)paulhilder13/08/2021
Walked up from Loch Glashan dam using a fire break from the forestry track at NR935930. Bracken, heather and bog myrtle make it harder but once up via first wee reentrant to NE and over to the fence line it's not so bad. Went over West Top 1st then on to Creag Chaise, Creag Fheargach before returning via Lochan Dubh - lots of water liliesHeather TS29/06/2021
MC JC O From forestry cp to south. Walk along forest roads to near end of track. Followed deer tracks between old and new plantation to pop out onto open hill. Over low fence around the loch and steeply up to the summit. Good views. Loch very silted and muddy. Once probably used for fishing before forest planting.Martin6631/05/2021
We failed to find a sensible route from the forestry track that runs to Creag na Sgroille, but on the way back down to the Glashan Dam, Deana spied a newly cut/mown route through the trees at around 922928. This enabled easy access through the dense afforestation and onto the moorland ridge. A simple SW-NE traverse over heathery ground took us to Cnoc nam Broighleag's West Top then fine main summit. Reversed the route down.summitter30/08/2020
Solo walk with Lily and rosie during social islolation for coronavirus. Sunny cool dry day. From Loch Glashan forestry carpark, past dam, followed forestry track till close by Cnoc nam Broighleag, through brash and open moorland to trig point.alexmaclennan22/03/2020
Parked near Birdfield and followed upgraded forestry track to near Loch Bealach. Then a bit of a trudge over very wet soft ground to the top.Simon Winton17/02/2020
From SW. Old overgrown track leads up to top edge of forest, starting from E side of burn (NR933930). Mini ridge to lochan and onto both tops from there.Lindsay M19/10/2019
P near quarries to E (as N. Morters). Over several hillocks to summit.ger10/09/2019

From Birdfield... the owner of Birdfield came over for a chat as I parked, told me I could drive up to a newish quarry on the high point where plenty space. So I did... Easy trott over the humpy ground to trigpoint on some vague paths.N.Morters11/01/2019
As Chris Peart, from SW, didn't find path but trees are mature and walking northish through the rows was easy. Frozen tussocks, sunny, calm and great viewsiangalbraith07/01/2018
Drove to lochan from Birdfield then the usual pathless trudge across tussocky mossy ground to summit. Bit better higher up.AndrewFinnimore25/06/2017
From Birdfield, forestry track defended by NAV notice but no gate so risked driving in about 50 yards in the absence of any other local parking. Right turn to upper track as far as Pt 192, along the ridge then back via the corrie on its south side.Topographer5731/05/2017
Traversed the hill, SW to NE, there's a useful path at NR932930, which follows the burn up to the lochan.Chris Peart12/05/2017

Walked up private road from Birdfield cottage to loch and then across rough up and down heather and bracken moor to top. The last part was tough but the views were rewarding part from large wind farm to North West. New quarry works near loch. Walked back to Minard for tea but the shop was shut on Tuesday afternoontrimarc223/08/2016
From house at Birdfield. Track to right is permissable road, with drive up to Lochan at nr 200m. Then tussockty/heather ground to summit.nordicstar09/01/2016

From Birdfield. Turned left on forest drive and immediately into felled trees, swamp and impassable brush. Clamber over debris to find similar obstacles. Up through trees to a wall, followed around, over a wire fence to open moor. Very steeply up on dead bracken to ridge. 5 or 6 tumps avoided bypassing them to column 8760 at 13.50.
