The thought of walking through brash ….so patked at bell end - quarry which is now tarmacced and lloks as though there may be timber extraction happening. Walked along the forestry track, too far in fact and needed to back track. As Gill descrivbes. ( 2021?) two stumps give a clue, the draining culvert is now over grown. A couple of argh steps lesd upu onto old track. Over grown and soggy in places. The fence post still remains. Watchout for a v deep overgrown ditch ….bottom saved me from disappearing. As trees grow, just keep your eyes oeeled for whatyou think will be thinnest easiest way to push through. It was a lovely day so fab views for meVerySlowPlodder10/11/2023
From 141m pt. Less than 15 mins through fallen trees, low branches and bracken to join track 97789/15432.Up from track at 97676/15256 through felled area then through trees to path at 97538/15343 which led to open hill at 97429/15454 then SW to top. On descent stayed on path until lost it at felled area within sight of main track.duchally22/06/2023
I couldn't face the thrash up through trees, so parked at the quarry and walked the length of the logging track from the road almost to the end, where the start of the old track up the hill is visible opposite the two cut-off trees and with a ramp over a drainage pipe. Quite overgrown at the start but it leads you a long way up past the edge of the old trees before you have to take to a deer track through the tussocks near an isolated fence post. Up a bit, cross a ditch, then clear path through small trees to the open hill and then the top. Fine views in clearing fog and a fog bow. Spotted the old green path used by others on the way back, might be a better way.Gill21/01/2022

From point 141. First 200m of forest NW to track was awful..avoided it on way back by walking out to road at 986162! Otherwise, standard route in heavy rain.Clive G11/08/2021
Parked off the road just north of the stream at 976150. Steeply up through trees on south side of stream without any major problems to reach forest track. Followed track to 973149 where there are 2 tree stumps in the ground on the east side and a young tree to the west. Climbing up bank reveals another track which curves round through the forest and leads to a cleared area. Follow the edge of the older trees up towards the summit with traces of a path.Winterfloodian03/06/2021
The felled area below the track being full of bracken and tangled vegetation, I picked my way through trees from pt 141 on the road to the track, turned left to the centre of the felled ares, where the upper path remains as a sinuous green ramp, and followed this onto the summit plateau. The trig is a very good viewpoint.Nick Down116/06/2019
7th and final tump on a traverse from Fernoch to Dalavich climbing Creag an Fhitich, Maol Mor, Cruach na Craoibhe, Sron Garbh, Am Bodach and An Cnap then heading over one of the knolls on Creag na Saibhaig then on forest ride heading NE to drop onto track at NM96747 15504 and following this to NM97056 15492 before heading up to Tom an Duin, recording 300m @ NM 97220 15504 then heading over to Eastern ridge to arrive at the Trig point, recording 303m @ NM 97195 15227. Meandering descent to reach road at NM97492 14689, following this all the way to Dalavich. 20.3km total mileage/1108m of cum. ascent..Dazingdale07/05/2019
From Kilmun parking at track, paths are absent but walked north just beyond river ravine to thinner forest to gain track. Followed beyond high point where forest changes to cleared/new planting. Up the AV track at the edge to open hill and summit.N.Morters23/02/2019
2of5: From road at 976152ChrisR08/11/2018
From road to SE up felled hillside to track left, SW along track to the south where there is felled hillside. Stay on our edge of the existing trees to the east and there is no need for any gruesome pushing through trees, something I didn't realise till after I'd done some and come back out on to the hillside. Glorious evening.vegibagger13/05/2018
2/6. Went up via faint path to east and north of summit as others have described, but this has become a bit of an arduous thrash. Came down on a southerly loop which is much better. So to ascend: gain the track above the road, and follow it south to its end at NM 972 148. Then step right onto an old track rising gently. This soon ends but you can follow the edge of the unfelled trees up and then north to the summit.PGCE07/08/2017
From Barnadine Lodge, to the S of the hill. Route and write-up at: http://gayleybird.blogspot.com/2017/05/tom-t-saighdeir-carn-duchara-and-cruach.htmlGayle03/05/2017
Parked at NM 97671 15013 and went straight up through mature forest to reach the forest track, found path at NM 97676 15266 marked by a small cairn, this led up to the summit area.Chris Peart13/04/2017
Walked in on forest road to GR quoted by mae. Track gives relatively easy ascent to summit, in snow in my case. Potential to miss track on descent so suggest GPS waymarks on the way up to avoid forest bashing.NormanW18/11/2016
From the minor road, up clear fell area to track, then a very faint fp to the summit.robertphillips19/06/2015
Just ignore any path marked on the maps; they're not there. Parked 967150, large space which isn't a layby, by a stream in the N edge of clear fell area. Start in mature trees opposite, then cross stream low ASAP, and head up and left to join a track left by large forestry machine. Zig zag up this to the marked forest road. Head right across stream, and 50m futher, then up into the woods, on a faint path which rises up and left. Quite steep at top, then over and down to a stream. Turn left and head up through brashings and replanted area to summit.Minto07/06/2015
With Jenx at Marhofn 2015. Parked just down from point 142 at 976150, room for several cars (as there is further up at 142). Looked in vain for old path, cutting steeply rightwards up grassy hill under deciduous woods to forest track, by the needed clearing to top, keep stream to left. This point can be gained further up road from pt 142 walking more easily to track then following it back down to the cleared trees. Note these trees replanted some years before will close eventually, if you read this is 5+ years time! Through the cleared/replanted trees the faint path shown on map can be found which becomes a track over a low knoll. Follow with increasing clarity to open fell at 973154. Trig visible off to SW some 100m. Grand views even in the wind and rain we had. Smaller top back by track prominent but lower.nordicstar06/06/2015
After two abortive attempts to cut through the forest, reverted to forest track entrance at 987162 and cycled up to 976152. Looking down I noted that jimbloomer's route through the clear fell would have been quicker. Start of path to summit is obstructed fallen trees, avoided by branch bash detour to east. Amazing views down to almost full length of Loch Awe.Topographer5714/05/2015
Ascended thro' clear fell to mae's GR10 and followed the track to the summit (forking left at mini-col 200m before trig).jimbloomer24/06/2014
Track/path through forest from the east. Sorry can't remember details of route.AndrewFinnimore21/06/2014
A quick grab that became a bad dream because of tree felling obliterating the path as shown on map, if it existed in the first place. At least the sea of mud was frozen as it was a glorious cold day.Martin R10/12/2012
With Mora, from minor road to East at nm976150, there is a track goes to top, if you can find it.BLACKHILL31/10/2012
Rough track to summit leaves forest road at NM9767715265mae08/07/2012
Trig revisit. Dull tussocky summit, decent view, especially of Loch Awe. Trees to NE have been felled, but not much easier. Initial ascent thru steep open woodland.RHW26/04/2008
Ascended from the east by forest track.JohnW10/04/2008
With Tim747, parked on roadside north of Barnaline, cut up hillside to join forest track, then followed paths through trees - occasional waymark posts suggest this is a discontinued forest walk up to flat grassy top.CreakingHiker15/11/2005
Parked at quarry. Nominated shite of year in Marhofn! On forest road for a mile to start of track. Rebuilt cairn to something more obvious on a corrected grid refce. 97675 15269. Easy plod on zig zags to daylight. Old posts supposed to give guidance but no sign of paths marked on OS map. To top at 14.30. Visited second tump 1 foot lower on GPS.arranc09/09/2004
Up through woods from Kilmun, over bogs and slippy wood left by felling.Eddie12/11/2003
Sun, cloud, wind, hard access, good views.iangalbraith02/12/2001
Date is first visit. Notes from later...see log on TrigpointingUK.com. spot ht 142 @ 979154, climb to tk @ 978155 (not as per OS50) then FP to summit area RHW23/06/2001
