Parked a little awkwardly, but off the road, at gated entrance to old picnic spot (NT 2361 5563), managing not to block the gate. Walked NE on road (good footpath) ~430m, past Newstead, to field gate, whence direct line up the trig pillar, then 800m along ridge (sheep country) to hill summit, and taking a more direct line on return for 3.3km. | jonglew | 29/01/2024 |
Bagging the nearby trig, so grabbed this summit as well. | BigJ | 26/12/2021 |
Parked at Leadburn up to the trig along the ridge to the HP | Andrew Simmons | 21/08/2021 |
Following on from Scarce Rig. The track heading NW to Kingside is very wet from the first gate for about 100m and this after virtually a month without significant rain! Diagonally across the field and up along the fence to the top. Back to car using track from cottage. | chrisbien | 26/04/2021 |
visited both areas, parked on verge near roseview entrance, gate and rough pasture to the woodland then along to the trig area. | robertphillips | 28/12/2019 |
From just along the Peebles road at Leadburn cross roads. Alongside wood to top field, which was pasture minus any animals today. | Minto | 06/07/2019 |
Bus to Leadburn x roads, then 400m towards Peebles then fields to trig and along ridge in direction of King's Seat. Agree with Chris B that ground to NE must be at least as high as trig. Good views to N and W. | Thearlaichdubh | 09/12/2018 |
From Craigburn through fields. Helpful Farmer kindly gave permission. | Ramblingpaul | 07/06/2018 |
The alternative at NT247562 (in a slightly wooded sheep field) looks to me a lot higher than the trig, although the map shows them both to be 316m. The summits are separated by a fence with a gate at the north end. Another gate at NT238560 gives access to the hill. Or there's the path from Craigburn to Cockmuir via Kingside, with a couple of footpath signs. The trig is in a ploughed field but there is an unploughed strip down to the southeast, along a broken wall. | Pete R | 13/05/2015 |
P across from quarry. Walked N along A703 to gate then open gate and closed gate to summit field which was neep hell. Trig may or may not be the top. Very flat. | chrisbien | 05/01/2015 |
Came from SW, parking on A703 just south of Leadburn. Good views of Pentlands. *Trig only, need to revisit | agentmancuso | 28/03/2009 |
