A number of walkers have noted that they were discouraged from accessing this hill by a land manager in the area. Land managers may ask the public to avoid an area of land or take a different route to allow them to manage the land or to protect their safety i.e. when felling trees or gathering livestock, however the request must be reasonable. Members of the public have a duty to act responsibly when exercising their access rights, you can find more information about your rights and responsibilities at the Scottish Outdoor Access Code website.

If you encounter anyone who tries to stop you from exercising your rights of access, and you believe that their request is unreasonable you should report the incident to the relevant Access Authority. In Argyll & Bute call Jolyon Gritten the Access Manager on 01546 604 314 or email Jolyon.Gritten@argyll-bute.gov.uk. If you feel that the incident was threatening or you were intimidated you should contact Police Scotland on 101 and make a formal report, requesting an Incident No.. Always avoid confrontation even if you feel that the land manager is in the wrong, after all you can always enjoy a walk elsewhere.

For information on reporting incidents elsewhere in Scotland the Mountaineering Council of Scotland has a useful webpage.

Cycle in from Ashfield. Leave forest road at 783 844. Stay right of deer fence that goes up to 784 841 and no big fences to cross. Rough going above that.PeteN26/12/2023
In view of comments re access we parked close to the track entrance at NR754844, well away from Daltote farm. Followed track up zigzags which has been extended to join existing farm/hill track at NR757839. Then followed tracks uphill past various lochs to the burnt-out old excavator near the 411m spot height south of Bealach Gaotach. Easy from there to the summit and also to OS 466m spot height some 400m to SE.ColinW21/11/2023
2nd top of 10 on a tough circuit from Kilmichael of Inverlussa climbing Creag nam Fitheach first then carefully descending to cross reservoir and then the long steady heart-pumping climb upto this one from the North. Very windy on top. I had to really concentrate to visit all the high points. Had I visited from Daltote there would have been a problem as landowner prevented access on his track...Continuation to climb to SE top..Dazingdale23/05/2021
Been up several times from just south of Daltote via track next to Eas Daltote in winter and summer - a lovely wee hill with great geology and a superb view. Can make a reasonable circuit of it by adding in Lochs to the west of Cruach Lusach - look out for the burn that feeds into Loch nam Breac Buidhe at NR761826 that is VERY obvious but not on the OS map.Heather TS29/12/2020
From parking at track south of Daltote cottage, entrance surrounded by horses. Route up via horse trails/track. Mostly sunny, fine views.N.Morters09/03/2019
Track from Kilmichael of Inverlussa to the wee lochan then roughly South trying to miss out as many trees as possible. Good luck. I've been up here 3 times to date, always worth the effort.DavieRuts01/03/2019
#650 - From road South of Daltote Cottage (75408274), then track to join Dennis's road the the bench and on to the summit. Gill is right, a delightful walk in nice weather.tim74728/10/2018
From Kilmichael of Inverlussa, past dam and through forestry onto scrambly moorland.iangpark18/10/2018
Direct route on track S of Daltote Cottage - room for one car by gate - up to memorial bench - high ground to summit - ATV track in places - fine wild area of rock and lochans.Chris Peart12/08/2018
From the large parking area on the B8042 just east of Loch Arail. A lovely summit, pity about the wet, tussocky approach.Alan Moore09/04/2018
Delightful walk from Daltote Farm past horses and sheep along good track (not driveable) to bench commemorating a guy called Donald who built the track. Wonderful views west across Sound of Jura and south to Ireland. Quite a poignant spot really. Easy enough to the summit, keep a higher line to avoid any boggy bits. A little less than 4hrs at a steady pace and a couple of short stops.AndrewFinnimore12/07/2017
From Daltote to bench and then to summit. Also visited the SE Top which I see has been measured as lower, but my GPS gave a reading 2m higher !NormanW29/04/2017
A nice easy stroll from Daltote, along the very pleasant track which goes along the Eas Daltot to the nice bench at Bealach Gaothach. Nice woodland, great views of Loch Sween, all becoming a bit more wild and woolly towards Loch nan Sgratha. ATV tracks lead over Bruach an t-Sidhean (dry and grassy) to Loch na-Inghinn, then it's every man for himself across the bogs to the summit. It was blowing a howling gale and raining heavily off and on, but would undoubtedly be a pleasant walk in calmer conditions.Gill25/12/2016
From Ashfield, dry, sunburned and warm. Good views.iangalbraith06/05/2016
kilmichael to dam, then track then through trees.robertphillips06/09/2015
Good walking on network of tracks from Daltote that go all the way to a bench at NR777822. Revisit for survey.alda08/06/2015

From Kilmichael. Awkward dry stream crossing under unmarked dam at 782847. Tried leaving track at 782844, but the forestry was impenetrable (expletives not reproduced here!). Tried going to track end at 794843 but descent to burn was too steep. Eventually found a clearing somewhere in between which led easily to the burn but squeezing into and back out of rough deer exclusion zone was unpleasant, did not find gates. Summited then headed SW to track at 774823 and eventually thumbed a lift back from 754844 to Kilmichael. This was pleasanter albeit longer than the inward route.Topographer5730/05/2014

from church at kilmichael of inverlussa. cut through forest at 781834, then follow the fence at the junction. very bracken lower down. Fine viewpoint and pleasant walk. thencnoc reamharThearlaichdubh29/09/2013
From Inverlussa church to hydro dam, then forest track over bridge to fire break. Gate in deer fence over burn, then boggy climb to end of ridge.neimcv27/04/2012
Parked at Ashfield by Loch Sween. Past house, over locked forestry gate on road up hill for about a mile. Level section for another mile. Gingerly over vile brush to cross a stream over a deer fence with help of a tree. and very rough tussock, rocky outcrops, swamps and erratics, steeply up with fence falling away to right. Bore left over long finger of hill barring a more direct route. Ravens. Around to right steady progress through rocky slopes and a final 10' rock face to ridge. Bore right to top at 14.20. 15 inch cairn near large bouldery dome. to SE top.arranc29/04/2007
