Fifth hill of eight on an alternative Southern Upland way route from Melrose to Longformacus, having climbed Legerwood Hill, West Hill, Knock Hill and Fawside Hill, the route went past Fairnybeds wood past a boggy field detouring North to cross the Crook Burn (difficult) righting up a swollen sheep en-route before again avoiding most of a herd of cows with calves who looked agitated before heading up a field to a gate and then the summit field. Summit is close to stone wall but explored both sides including Trig. Descent NE to field corner and minor lane heading North to A697.Dazingdale17/05/2015
