Along track from NE. Field planted but tractor tracks gave access to HP. | sclater | 18/06/2023 |
From verge parking but as the farmer was ploughing, I only bagged this hill. | curlebd | 10/04/2023 |
After Black Loch Hill, down to the loch. Then straight up through the horrible ferns to a fence/wall. Crossed and followed tram tracks in the wheatfield to the summit. | JAdair97 | 23/07/2022 |
Highside Hill and Black Loch Hill from the road corner to the NE. Verge parking 20m before corner. Neither might be accessible if crops are growing. Keep right of direct line between the two for easier descent avoiding gorse. | Minto | 16/01/2022 |
Track from the NE and now the field has been harvested an easy bag. Across to Blacklock hill. | Andrew Simmons | 18/09/2021 |
highside hill visited both tops, and black loch hill from the NE parked on the grass verge at 6713774593. | robertphillips | 16/02/2019 |
Bus to Dunbar ASDA, then lanes via Spott to track from NE. Straightforward with last 400m in ploughed field which wasn't muddy and probably only had grass sown. On to Black Loch Hill | Thearlaichdubh | 15/01/2019 |
Round of Highside and Black Loch from Halls. Stalker approached but was content to know where I was going. | Topographer57 | 19/12/2018 |
Both summits visited. | chalky1953 | 04/11/2018 |
Both summits done. | Adrian | 16/08/2018 |
Ran up from Spott side (tractor trail beside field, reached from top of Spott Loan). Trail disappears several hundred metres from summit, giving way to muddy field. Moving into gusts of up to 70mph (according to forecast) in mud and rain = intense, but fun one. Tried to move to Black Loch Hill via nearby path, but was private so abandoned. | IainHillHunter | 31/12/2017 |
Track from nne, ploughed summit. Also visited Chesters fort, arable, c.1m lower by hand level sighting both ways, agreeing with 25k map. Direct line for BLH v steep, vlooks best to keep L towards loch, where teal were calling. | RHW | 28/01/2017 |
After many failed attempts - they harvested the field late this year, I found that there was still stubble. Easy ascent, 1.4km from the farm road end above Spott. | fasgadh | 22/12/2016 |
Essentially the same route as Chris, but no problems. The alternative top lies in an adjacent field, newly ploughed at the time of my visit, the earth extremely cloying. And no sign whatsoever of the fort. The listed top had been sewn with a crop, so I had to tread carefully. Descent to the path west of Black Loch is blocked by gorse but a path leads down if you head west for a bit. | Colin Crawford | 20/02/2016 |
Track from NE to HH. Down to How Burn. Up track then into top field of BLH. Along track to wood then down to try to find the path on map. Found a style but no path - horrendous - eventually a track back to the road. Very hot. | chrisbien | 12/07/2014 |
