Probably one of the most interesting of Britain's small hills !.. with so much to look at and so much history. Just how many monuments can you fit onto one small hilltop? Fascinating birds eye view of the heart of Edinburgh and hundreds of tourists from all around the world up here -in an array of fashion not normally seen on a hill. To top it all - weird and wonderful drummers and masked 'otherworldly creatures' were practicing for the end of October forthcoming Samhuinn Fire Festival when a dazzling mix of fire, drumming, acrobatics, and immersive theatre will awaken all over Calton Hill and gather for an epic struggle between Winter and Summer. It certainly scared the wits out of poor Junior -the Jack Russel with me on our 3 hr circuit over 4 hills. | Chris Pearson | 20/10/2019 |
