Revisit 2 days after first, looking for my Beanie after Moelfryn however did not find it. Lovely hill. Descent to near track but then followed footpath back to the West of the hill past abandoned slate quarries with caves and huge holes in the ground, now revegetated but in very wet conditions. Took track to South of Moelfryn rejoining outward route on Snowdonia slate trail..Dazingdale30/09/2023
2nd of 11 hills on a 24km traverse from Beddgelert forest intersection with A4085 at Pont Cae Gors, after Moelfryn I descended South to the path and then followed the path to Bwlch-Ddwy-elor where I branched off, scrambling up through the slabs following sheep paths then once on summit plateaux I found an easy trail around to the Rock outcrop summit. A beautiful hill. Great view to Castell, my next target...Dazingdale28/09/2023

Parked at the end of Cwm Pennant and followed the ROW as far as the base of Y Gyrn, scrambling over loose slate to the summit. The section over to Castell was equally challenging on rough terrain, but did at least enable a reasonable ascent up the NE flank of Moel Lefn. It was straightforward from here, along a well worn ridge path over Moel yr Ogof, Moel Hebog, and a slightly less well defined path to Bryn Banog. The subsequent descent to the old slate quarries below added historical interest and a sense of what former times around these parts meant for the working quarryman. The ROW to Tyddyn-mawr was boggy in places, but the great wee cafe in the cottage at the end of this former quarry path gave ample time to rest soggy feet and recharge the batteries. The walk back up Cwm Pennant is fabulous if you stick to the former quarry track route (black dashed line on 1:50,000 OS Map). 6.5 hrs.summitter26/06/2021

Route: Beddgelert to Hebog to Ogof to Lefn to Y Gyrn to Rhyd-Ddu. Party: Andrew La Niece, Benjamin Jennings, Cole Hine, Freddie Leslie, Sean Ashton, Tom Borrett Weather: Cloudy on top of mountains, very windy, no rain.Oliver_Storey03/04/2017
Route: Beddgelert – Moel Hebog – Moel yr Ogof – Moel Lefn – Y Gyrn – Rhyd-Ddu. Approx. Stats: 5hr30, 10km, 1050m ascent. Weather: very windy but no rain. Notes: some scramble on Hebog ascent & some bog on descent; Y Gyrn horrible mountain (no path, concealed holes, gorse & heather etc.); where more than one potential summit (even if clear which is correct) all climbed.millionmts03/04/2017

Moel Hebog, Moel yr Ogof, Moel Lefn and unlisted Y Gyrn. Low cloud all day attended by morning intermittent drizzle and afternoon constant drizzle/rai with moderate winds. Too k the edge off what would othrwise probably have been a good walk. Y Gyrn was awkward, tiresome and not worth the effort in this weather. Paths back through forest getting overgrown and one was being diverted.ijpowell15/08/2013
