Final hill of 3 from Bwlchgwyn, after Pen Tan y Bryn i used fp's to get me to a lane that leads to tracks into the forest. My route up the Southern slope went right through a quarry but the slope wasnt too bad so i just walked up to the treeline then meandered through the trees moving to the right where the tree cover seemed less i found the path climbing all the way to the top. Afterwards i visited the ridge to the N but it was lower then headed East to refind path and then another l8bk pack to a track at one point descending a mossy green lane. My return route took me on footpaths that no longer existed on the ground and had essentially disappeared. Wonderful light today. I made it back to Bwlchgwyn. This hill completed Flintshire, my 2nd Welsh county completion.Dazingdale11/02/2024
Parked by the memorial in Bwlchgwyn. Walked up to TP then had a wonder around the woods, visited the waterfall and “caves”. With R+R.Dan Baddeley23/12/2023

Followed Aye Jimmy route just past the pylon is now a large quarry. Turn right here then after 60m or so left up path between shrubbry.cjo29/08/2022
As others, just enough room to park by bend to SW near forest entrance. Followed good path that headed up through forest and with one left turn up to trig point and HP. Good view north. Kept going on path which brought me back down to pylons and upward route.PeterD11/04/2022
As Aye Jimmy. Parked just below forest gate on bend to SW at SJ 2608 5423 - Up forest track to junction at SJ 2632 5436, turned right & along track for about 80m to start of path - Up good path through through a mixture of rhododendron, heather, birch & spruce to summit boulder by trig point. HP is by trig. Hazy views. There are various unmapped paths which make this easier than expected. Approached over pasture from NE ridge and descended wooded SW ridge, all on paths. Emerged on road at SJ259541 by 283m SH.Denise 22/12/2021
Ascent over fields of pasture on the NE shoulder, AJ's route down through forest. Good if murky views.RichardM22/12/2021

Last Flintshire hill. Followed Aye Jimmy's directions. The path is indeed excellent as the rhodedendrons are quite thick in places so an off piste ascent would have difficulties.clivevilla08/12/2020

From corner of track to werngate farm locked gates. Easy forest tracks under crackly electricity lines up to shipping container and severely beaten astra van. From here I should have headed right as just a wee bit beyond the junk theres a superb path which goes all the way to the trig. The way i went was far less pleasant. Cracking views from top. If a few more trees blow over it will be a stunning panorama.stig_nest16/03/2016
Took a shortcut up through the wood on the way to the top. Took the proper route back down!Alan Caine05/10/2015
Parked at forest gate, festooned with locks, including the walkers gate. As RHW, there realy is a good silica sandstone path leading up the ridge from 50m SE of the upper road junctionGordonAdshead25/08/2015

From Ffrith. Had trouble parking in the village, with both pubs where parking might have been possible currently defunct. Parked 100m south of the chapel on the main road by a row of houses at SJ 28550 55200. Followed track under viaduct, then a marked trail to the hill up a green lane to Bryn. Then followed RoW SW into the forest. Failed to find a path to the summit. Tried to thrash my way over tree stumps, high bracken and hidden brambles, but this attempt ended in my bloodied rout back to the RoW! Returned north to the forest edge and worked my way round it (one barbed wire fence) to the NW 375m ring contour and then over a stile to the trig point (definitely higher). There was bemused to find a fine path running along the ridge. Followed this down NE to where it joins the RoW through the forest - it's at SJ 26779 54773. It's a bit obscured when approaching from the north, but the key to a painless bag! Also had difficulty on descent, following overgrown paths back down the valley.Man of Kernow105/07/2015
