08:30 from disused chapel NE of Rhewl. Weather according to BBC moderate winds and wall-to-wall sunshine but was very strong winds and overcast with cloud coming and going around 1800'.Brighter later. 18 degrees. Had intended taking the west ridge until I realised that bracken and gorse make it impregnable. Happily, there's an easy way up to the south of the ridge, all through pasture. On to Moel Morfydd.Wycombe Wanderer07/10/2023
From SJ 1824 4492 via Cymmo, rickety stile @ SJ 1649 4466 and rising small path thro' winter bracken to fence line/corner @ SJ 1668 4444. This avoids gorse but the bracken would be testing in summer.summitsup05/02/2023

From Moel Morfydd. On good RoW to col. Then right through gate near crossroads of RoWs. On grass to open gate, then more steeply up on grass to a broken gate a little west of summit. Back to col same way. KeithByTheC03/10/2022
Parked at Chainbridge, SJ198432, up via Rhewl and up old sunken lane to coll at SJ163449. Then up field, west side of fence through 2 gates along summit ridge by burnt gorse, back to coll and on up Moel Morfydd.Flatfield27/04/2022
Parked in the Sun Inn car park which is currently closed.Alan Caine24/04/2022
Easy parking opposite chapel in Rhewl & used MoK's route which was enjoyable. Up Dee Valley Way to fingerpost & gate on bwlch - Keeping to W. & S. of fence line, over one gate & one low wire fence before reaching point due S. of summit - Easily over wire fence to high point which is currently free of gorse due to recent fire.gerrybowes31/03/2022
From the NW. Went through 2 gates and then kept right by the fence. The gorse isn't a problem if you keep right by the fence.Alan Moore15/12/2021
From Rhewl chapel. Lane to Hafod Rhisg then up pastures to summit, initially following marked path. No gorse this way until last 5m. On to Morfydd and Gamelinstig_nest31/03/2021
From Moel Morfydd. A hot day. With Andy. Stunning views.Campbell Singer20/09/2020
Parked with permission by Geli Forfydd, SJ 1623 4392. Gently rising green track N to col at SJ 1612 4464. Then more or less direct to top over pleasant sheep pasture. No gorse till last meter or so on the summitcarole engel22/11/2018
we approached through gorse from the west- much easier to approach from SE!!!! fading light at the end of an excellent LLangollen circuit.Denise 13/11/2018
NW ridge from the col, sheep pasture and a couple of BWF's to cross. Somewhat gorsey on the top, best to keep in field until due S of the summit, we didn't and struggled all the way along the ridge line.RichardM13/11/2018
Approach exactly as marktrengove - thanks. Rather circuitous but nice walk and avoids bracken, gorse and bwfs. Returned same way.Aye Jimmy02/02/2018
10.1 mile walk from car park near Berwyn Station, walked along minor road to Rhewl then climbed up good path near Cymmo Farm across fern slopes onto Graig-Ddu (for first time) then climbed obvious steep tracks onto Moel Morfydd, Moel.Y.Gaer and Moel.Y.Gamelin (bagged these 3 previously in 2010) and along little trails through ferns onto Maesyrychen Mountains (first time) and followed paths back to road near Llantysilio farm, turned left along more minor road and across field paths to Coed Hyrddyn (first time) along this nice little hill back to car park, overcast with brief bursts of sun, then drove home just beating the bank holiday rush.DanTrig25/08/2017
Road side parking near church ENE of Rhewl. Easy to follow paths SW to eastern tip of Hill but put off by bracken. Took good path west along access land boundary to fence with stile due N of summit. Thrashed through bracken and gorse. Horrible. Easier access following fence west then south to ridge over grazed grass but still some gorse at top. Lost glasses in bracken on way up. Only noticed at top. Incredibly found again on way down! Moel Morfydd, Moel y Gaer, Moel y Gamelin, Moel y Faen, Maesyrychen Mountain.ijpowell15/09/2016
Parked in the Sun Inn car park in Rhewl (SJ 17855 44733). Took lane SW then NW to Acer-ddu, then track on westwards past Cymmo to the bwlch. Keep to the west of the fence from there heading south. No barbed wire to negotiate if on this side. Follow the fence round up to near the summit, then cross for a few metres of prickly gorse to the summit. Don't stay on the east side as I did, as very tough going over barbed wire and thick low-lying gorse. Walk continued to Moel Morfydd. Solo.Man of Kernow105/08/2016
Did this after coming off Moel Morfydd. Bracken bash to get to top then difficult trying to find a way back to car at Rhewl - ended up about a mile too far down the road after fighting through overgrown paths. Worth it though for great view of Llantisilio range.Mark Sims19/10/2015
