| Quarry first, scrambling up via a tree, precariously using strong roots and making sure they were in the ground and not like a lot of the vegetation, cuttings from the hedge above. Fairly easy to the top but then I squeezed myself down via the vegetated ridge, having to break bramble stems a plenty in order to get through. Edge of house verge outside the fence also visited. | As on previous visit, parked by sub-station on Colliers Lane. Called at Weston Lodge (large house in summit photo) & was greeted by a friendly couple who were unaware that a summit grid reference was located in their paddock. | Parked by sub-station in Colliers Lane at SJ 2647 6397 - Short walk up A549 & then left along farm track to yard at rear of house where I met the friendly, but somewhat mystified owner. He was happy for me to use a couple of gates & head across paddocks to what I hoped would be the high point. Unfortunately, the high point is in the most southerly paddock & farmer informed me that this belonged to his neighbour at Weston Lodge (big house in summit photo). Didn't attempt to gain access by climbing the padlocked, meshed & heightened gate & called at Weston Lodge. Vehicles in drive, but no answer & side gate padlocked. | Parked a little way down the A549 then walked back to the farm track. I was hoping to encounter somebody to ask permission but nobody was about so I followed the buildings round to the left to a gate and climbed that into the summit field. There were no horses in either field today but the gate I climbed had extra planks of wood across the top. I assumed that this was to discourage hillbaggers but maybe it was to make it higher for wantaway horses. | clivevilla | 08/12/2020 |

| Failed attempt on Bryn-y-Baal, the twin top, from the quarry. AC did tackle the slippery scramble, with a bit of tree climbing. HP appears to be the base of a bushy conifer just beyond the fence on the garden side. Route to the scramble cleared of most brambles, at least till spring comes. POSTSCRIPT: Myrddyn Phillips has now analysed the LIDAR data for Prenbrigog and the alternative high point at the quarry edge in Bryn-y-Baal. Prenbrigog comes in at 172.139m at SJ 26632 64055, while Bryn-y-Baal at 171.759m at SJ 25917 64778. | As Carole, approached via farm drive early, no-one about. Series of very squalid horsey enclosures led to gate over into field with long grass behind large barn. Was taking readings when two large dogs came racing up, friendly though! - followed by lady from big house near barn. Was I lost? Mentioned I was trying to find Prenbrigog, she didn't know that place. Fortunately post-lady arrived at that moment with large amount of mail so I was able to slip away down her drive. Then went to Bryn-y-Baal to check that out. Bend in drive signed Orchard House and Quarry Cottage seemed high point. | Aye Jimmy | 05/12/2017 |
| Top near Prenbrigog accessed thru' a maze of small gated fields with horses - via farm drive. No one up at 7.30am to ask permission Returned 4th Dec 2017 to visit alternate summit at Bryn-y-Baal to NW. This time 6.30pm and felt it too dark to ask permission, so wandered up to suggested location up the driveway | carole engel | 02/12/2017 |

| Tried my luck at the farm first. Seemingly nobody about. Wasn't quite satisified that I done enough to claim the Tump so headed round to the playing fields at the back. A paddock can accessed from the top pitch straightforwardly, with two sets of 'rungs' in position, no doubt for kids that may need to retrieve their footballs. Then it is through a muddy gateway to the east. One wooden fence and then a gate to climb and you are at the top. Quite an exciting bag as it does feel very private. | Much recent development, blocks access from E. Did not get further than farm. After discovering that it may be a twin tump I went back on 09/10/2015 to both candidate points. The friendly farmer at Penbrigog took me to what he said was the hp, just to the W of his house. Similarly the man in the new house just above the Bryn-y-baal Quarry at 259647 was equally helpful in showing me to the hp just inside his front gate. | GordonAdshead | 23/08/2015 |
| High point at SJ 266 640 is in a field on the west side of Penbrigog Farm. It would only be accessible via the farm itself. Also, according to OS Open Data, there is another 172m spot height in Bryn-y-baal at SJ 259 647. It is at the top of a quarry cliff in the back garden of Orchard House. The base of the quarry is open access, but a high wire fence, festooned with 'No Climbing' signs, guards access to the cliff, .
