Parked in free parking to the Nw of the hill and took fp that climbs up to the North. I could not resist entering the wood so increased the difficulty as there are good paths however it was nice meandering through the mixed woodland, lots of holly, birch, bilberry and the like. High point in brambles not far from path. Descended West using some paths and at times a wilder descent to reach fp following it out to reach the road and then heading over to Caergwrle Castle...Dazingdale11/02/2024

Parked in the very large car park at Hope Health Centre (E. side of A550 at SJ 3100 5766) - Short walk S. & then E. along RoW & path just inside wood for about 300m before heading up a decent path to the mossy summit stones; these lie in bramble close to path junction. (S)gerrybowes07/02/2022
Ascended by torchlight from N on a myriad of wooded paths. HP unmarked and indistinct in area of bramble and fortifications. Continued back to Caergwle.Denise 29/01/2022
From the N. Lots of good 'locals paths' through the brambly birch woods. High point mossy rocks in brambles a few metres to S of summit path.RichardM29/01/2022

Nice woodland walk up ROW from road to east with easy parking buy housesMark Sims09/07/2019
From Road to South, walked public footpath around boggy snow covered fields. Several Exciting false summits from N including large Rocky outcrop, but summit is deeper into the wood and actually a very nice spot with lots of little paths darting here and there. Finding the way down a little more troublesome - ended up possibly going through a private driveway? On to Caergwrle castle - with Nwormgage and Palettatumpawumpa29/12/2017
From ESE at sign saying Rock Lane - leading to Bryn-yr-Gaer woods. Round left as soon as woods entered, past old quarry and reservoir. Summit of mossy stones in birch trees.Aye Jimmy19/11/2017

Accessed via FP now part of the new Wales Link path connecting the ODP at Llandegla with the AWCP at Saltney Ferry. Nice birch wooded hill - would probably never have climbed it until finding this web site last month !JohnIvor16/01/2017
Continuation of walk from Caergwrle Castle. Returned to A 541 and headed east under railway bridge, crossing the River Alyn by the road bridge. Then took RoW east past Rhyddyn Farm to its highest point, diverting south on overgrown RoW up to top of the woods. Found a small path from RoW leading SW up to summit area. Returned by outward route. Solo.Man of Kernow102/09/2016
Following Hope Mountain. Returned to Caergwrle. Then via Rhyddyn Hill to SJ317574. FP to summit area. Interesting outcrops in bushes 30m E of HP. Followed path down to SJ312575. Made it back to car park at Caergwrle just before a heavy shower came over.Richard Gunn15/06/2016
