Good parking area ~100m off the road at NJ 3736 1368. Took a direct line WSW along a break for Hill of Greenstile first, then across to here picking up a wee unmapped track at the col, starting at NJ 3804 1399.jonglew24/11/2023
From car park to West near Altdachie. Followed blue waymarked to summit. Returned same route. 2.7 miles round trip.JulieB03/10/2023
Car park off road to southwest of hill. Blue signposts guide you to the fabulous summit. Back same way. Solo.Dangerous Dave02/10/2023
Good forest car park, then followed blue trail to summit. Summit carnncorporates a bench snd a trig pillarcjo30/09/2023
Car park just off the road in the forest to the west at Altdachie. Blue way markers to the summit.curlebd28/05/2023
From the forest car park off the A97 on the east side of the hill at NJ 39611 13925. Took forest tracks up to NJ 38388 13959, from where a path zig-zags up through the Storm Arwen-damaged forest and out onto moorland to the top. The path has now been cleared of fallen trees. Return by outward route. With DB, RP and BC. 5.9km, with 325m of ascent.Man of Kernow118/05/2023
Blue route from the east along with Hill of Greenstile.Nice benches on the summit to admire the view.ARM03/03/2023
From A97 to ExS. Forestry tracks to SSE of summit, then zig zag footpath to top. Great views. With Kath.CJM14/02/2023
From car park to E, NJ 396 139. Yellow waymarkers not much help, and misleading low down. Forest much churned up by machinery. Return down N edge of forest, with detour to avoid steep icy snowbankPeteN23/12/2022
Parked NJ 37362 13687. Followed signposted route to Ben Newe to NJ 37919 14072. Then North along track to NJ 37962 14285, then up path to summit.PeteF16/10/2022
From good parking MJ374134. Excellent MTB trail/track/path all way to top. To avoid initial near vertical ascent into woods, go a little to your right and up from NJ 37364 13660. Trail wends up thru' trees (I cut off a loop into forest at NJ 374 135), continuing east, soon picking up trail again. Continue to track (marked with a partially grassed over cairn). Follow mapped tracks (all clear of windthrow) to NJ 3804 1398 where good path to summit marked by posts.carole engel14/10/2022
Quick bag on a wet day. Has its own carpark to the west, off a minor road at altdachie. waymarked from there.hils16/05/2022
From Ben Newe car park at NJ374137, continuation track blocked by many fallen trees, so headed directly E up hill, crossed one track (also blocked), up to the second, turned N and followed it to where it turned ENE, up hill, and picked up the blue trail markers for the summit, followed these all the way up, returning the same way (1h15m)kdbennett02/03/2022
Track impossible due to fallen trees but alternative route straight up side of hill to higher track works fine.nicolajane05/12/2021

It's a very good route from the forestry car park to the west of Ben Newe. Easy forest tracks, grassy and/or covered in pine needles zig-zag up the hills with good way markers. At the last way marker pointing right, when the top of the hill is in clear view, take the left fork instead over to a fence, where a good path heads up to the top. A descent south adds variety, then a quick walk back down the tracks. The top of the hill has been logged since my last visit, so you can find the way very easily.Gill213/11/2020
From dam car park head N along forest track for @100m until a laser direct ascent can be made steeply up the unsigned mountain bike trail coming straight down. Watched and listened for fast approaching bikes - but all deserted on this lovely Monday late afternoon - after my first visit supply teaching at remote Strathdon School.Chris Pearson07/09/2020
From Car Park at Altdachie via marked trail (blue).Winterfloodian15/08/2020
Followed the yellow path like most, but where it headed back into the forest about 500m shy of Ben Newe summit we just carried straight on alongside the forest edge.summitter23/02/2020
From forest car park, well-signed blue-marked track to summit with good views. Slight short cut on lower half of way down.willyross07/02/2020
Great top this one. Grey and misty views but still was quite impressive. Would really like to come back here on a fine day.Alex C26/12/2019
From dam car park to west. Blue trail markers to top. Took bike track back to CP very quick.garyhoney05/08/2019
BEWARE the yellow route - take a map and a means of orientation. Started from the Downingford CP at NJ396140 and followed the yellow waymarkers until I found myself going downhill, away from the hill. Resorted to intuition and went straight up, relocating the yellow route - followed this N to the fence then, half way up, followed it L, into forest - mistake - at the high point had to fight up extraction lanes and tree bash until came upon top track which descended in both directions - no sign of any blue posts so had to fight up through tough vegetation to the top. Problems solved in reverse - the fifth yellow waymarker, in ascent, points the wrong way - it sends you R at a fork, when the true route is the L fork (at orienteering marker post 28). If and when you reach the fence, DO NOT follow the yellow markers L into the trees half way up, but continue up the fence line track which takes you easily to the top track - about 100m SW along this is a blue arrow pointing to a good path to Isbjorn28/05/2019

Severe felling near summit. From car park, follow track N, optionally cut corner up path after 100 m, cross forest road and continue on path to right of fence. Rejoin road and follow new blue arrows on green posts to avoid felled area - arrows will take you to a path next to the N fence to summit.henryfm20/05/2018

Yellow route to forest edge, then fenceline to summit.PGCE19/02/2018
Here for the trigpoint. Intended to started from CP (N57° 12.741' W3° 00.083'). However track up was a very slippery slope so we had to park on the verge near the road and hope the car managed to stay on the grass and not slip down onto the road whilst we headed up the hill. This would have been a very easy track in different conditions but today it was very icy and snowy. At N57° 12.795' W3° 01.096' we took a track to the right which then started to descend, so we decided to head up through the trees (which I found hard going!) to N57° 12.886' W3° 01.303' where we ended up on a track, we then found a route up through the trees to the trigpoint which was very steep and had a lot of snow to negotiate, tough going. Very windy at the trigpoint so didn't hang about to admire the views. Found the path back which ended up at N57° 12.780' W3° 01.466' which probably would have been a better route up. Still had to take a man path to get back onto the original track.thejackrustles17/12/2017
From P at NJ395139. Yellow route, then forest edge and small path leading to summit from grassy track at NJ383141.summitsup01/10/2017
From the Dunanford car park, following the famed yellow route. This seems to follow unmapped paths, but stick with it, and it will take you to the fence running up from Glenbuchat castle. Where the yellow route heads left away from the fence, keep going up along the fence on a path/overgrown track, which is marked on the map. Keep following it when it flattens out, and contours below the summit. When you see a blue route marker, you will see a good path on the right, heading up through the trees to the summit. Splendid views, and a lovely summit, complete with a wooden bench. Before finding this lovely easy way, I played at Oozlum birds on the yellow route, and then did an off piste thrash through the trees to the summit. Not recommended.Gill08/09/2017

Parked at the forest car park at NJ395139. Ascended via yellow route to saddle between Beinn Newe and Meall Beag followed by a rising traverse through Scots Pines to pick up a path to the summit. Returned via similar route to saddle and continued around the yellow route back to car park.raffemeister23/06/2016
Busy day, 4th summit after Meikle and Little Conval, Cairn Diamh... Evening sunshine and fine sunsetN.Morters31/03/2016
Parked at 395139 in the public car park. If you follow the green/yellow trail and then head north to the edge of the forest it is a straightforward walk uphill heading west. A faint trail leads to the trig point. Solo.bolton09/02/2016
From CP to East. Up the tracks to high point - 75 yds past last big spruce and through a more open area at @425m faint trail leads all way to top, inc through deep heather! Impressive for such a hill. With Jenxnordicstar22/10/2015

From a muddy car park at 374137. Up by shortest route on marked trails. A nice pointed summit with tree cover all the way up its SW face. Half way down same way then an unmarked short cut.Topographer5705/10/2014

from little layby at E edge of forest. There is a very churned up forest road just inside the forest after about 400 m which you follow until you are near the top, then just thrash up. Nice pointy hill. Dead sheep on way downThearlaichdubh08/05/2014

Solo. From the road went east over a minor bump, Tom Breac, then more steeply uphill through open woodland to reach the summit of Ben Newe. There is a small rocky tor, a trig point and wooden seats at the top. I saw a path I had not known about descending on a more southerly course than my ascent, so I followed it - there are a few waymarks. It is partly on forest tracks. The weather was really nice - blue skies but a little cold.pwbellarby16/02/2008
Parked at the woodland carpark. went to the northerly edge of the wood then followed it up to just below the summit then up the path at the steps.SJ26/06/2007
