From layby to south as others. | TK | 16/02/2024 |
From the lay by to the south but possible to drive along undated forest track to SO 01873 60730 where there is plenty of parking. Straight up grassy paths to fine top with big views. Long chat with metal detectorist near top. | Campbell Singer | 29/04/2023 |
Climbed from the small lane to the N. Parking possible at the junction of the driveway to Stannage. Access land is very brackeny, so we walked up the steep pasture alongside. Superb views from the nose of the hill, 150m W of the trig. | DanMaisieBex | 23/10/2022 |
Stunning cloud inversion saw me emerge from the freezing fog to immense views. Came up from the forest track as others have. No problems - 2 gates. | Rob Rees | 13/01/2022 |

11.20..Trig S5522 blue sky fluffy tumulus but an icy wind has brewed in the last hour. | vegibagger | 13/10/2020 |
We initially attempted to do this from the north side, but the bracken was too thick lower down and the farmer wasn't keen to let us go through his fields higher up, so we got back in the car and drove to the south side. We parked in a layby at SO021606 and then started along the forestry track just a few yards up the road. On the map, the track looks like it loops up the hill and then rejoins the road, but in reality, it takes you up the hill into a field. If you take an immediate left, there's a gate onto the open hillside. The bracken is sparse on this side of the hill, so the going is fairly easy and the views are great from the top. With Keith and baby Ross. | islamidget | 11/06/2017 |
A nice little hill and superb view point. Trig at high point on Conglomerate ridge. Parked at start of forest (recently felled and replanted) track on S side of hill, along track to quarry then easily up to ridge via field grazed by sheep and upper slopes of bracken / rough grass. Clusters of delicate blue Harebells. | RichardM | 09/08/2015 |
Ignored info on website and looked for a fence leading straight up to the top. Could not find this as tree covered hillside appeared to my left (not shown on my map). On a faint track through trees contouring above the road, then struck directly uphill through trees and vicious head high bracken. Similar to Garth near B Wells last year - another horror! Kept hold of both stick and map case and as gradient eased, onto open moor and to ridge. Found I was too far west. Followed ridge uphill past site of Jubilee bonfire and to slightly damaged column 5522 at 11.15. Continued by wire fence on the ridge over BWF on a slanting line down a very steep grass slope to the bottom corner of the first field and ditto for the next. Over BWF to road and car.
