Another repeat (of many) but there are some more changes. Everything is pretty much the same lower down, except that some of the log stacks have been moved. But the wood up near the summit has been absolutely blasted by Storm Gerrit, so there is a lot more wind throw up there. It's still a great route though. The easiest way is to zig-zag across the old fence to avoid the fallen trees. It's not difficult going even in crusty snow, but the old path is blocked. It's a popular hill, so I'd expect a new path to emerge very soon.Gill01/01/2024
Up the track from the south (NJ499138) - pleasant once beyond the muddy farmland and young forestry. Bit of wind throw in top wood but easily avoided. After Tom na Gabhar/Clashenteple Hill and Roman Hill, and before Lord Arthur's Hill.StueyB19/11/2023
Route as per Gill. On descent when back at the gate out of the wood, followed the RHS of the fence towards Langgadtie Hill, this turns into a path that leads to a gate, a nice path continues through the wood to the left of the fence that takes you near the trig. The path then continues to lead down the side of the fence, then by following orange dots and arrows on the trees the path leads down to the track at the last bend before the car 513132.JulieB03/10/2023
The advised route from far SE starting up the dig forestry track that isn't marked on the 1:25k TPUK Map on the app on my phone. It's pretty straightforward. Jp track on rides. Even the summit bit of woodland that worried me was a needless one. It's benign open path thro' delightful largely larch and rather pretty. Once through that it's short hof across heather to summit Cairnvegibagger18/06/2023

Repeat but with notes on access changes. A nice stroll up the logging track from Cushnie Forest 509130, past the wind turbine. Once back in the forestry 505142, there is new logging work and the decent old track has become a muddy harvester track. However, a few yards past the log stacks, you can divert NW off the vile mess, a few yards over grass onto the old track, wide at first, then two clear, dry wheel marks through heather next to the harvester track. This old track has been cut by the harvesters but continues up the firebreak the other side of the deep ruts. Don't follow the harvester track, it goes the wrong way, instead the old track goes up the hill out onto the moor and then into the lovely larch wood. The path has been blocked by fallen trees in a couple of places but a new path has developed and detours around the blockages, then as always out onto the moor and the top.Gill15/02/2023

From entrance to Cushnie Forest at NJ509129, as described by Gill2, straight up unmapped forest road through the forest, across open slopes above a wind turbine to a double gate, through that, turned L immediately, continuing on an old track through a young mixed conifer plantation, continuing across open moor to an old larch plantation, and a narrow foottrack through that (bypassing some fallen trees) to the N edge of the plantation, short distance on moor to the cairn, returning the same - a direct and straightforward route (1h50m)kdbennett11/03/2022

From the unmapped Cushnie Forest track, good parking at 509130. This runs up through the forestry to a gate, through fields above the wind turbine to a double gate into a new plantation. L to join the old track (mentioned by others, coming from W of Upper Minmore), this leads through the plantation then across open moor, then leave it to go into the larch woodland on a good path, beautiful, atmospheric in mist and snow, then out onto the summit area and to the cairn. Much less hassle than my previous routeGill201/01/2021
Fantastic day maximizing the good afternoon and weather. First hill of Lockdown 2. Light snow on ground but snow showers had passed. Phil and I set off from Newton Donside. Beautiful views in all direction from the top. Great place to spot the Aberdeenshire Marilyns. Sat cairn for lunch taking it all in. One other walker passed by. A lovely walk from the gate and track at 499 137 to the south - the final section being via a narrow path through a larch wood.summitter05/01/2020

Parked beside shipping container near Upper Minmore, NJ501136. Up road to track start at NJ498137. Parking and route OK'd by shepherd. Track becomes faint in grass on ridge and leads to two 'gates' just before forest edge - sun bleached simple stile over fence, R, leads to vague path in young trees - stick with it, it soon joins a forest 'green lane', which leads through young plantation, then over open moor to top cluster of trees. You can take thin path through trees, or use ATV track which goes around on W side, to top. In reverse, the forest 'green lane' heads slightly L to join a new forest access road and a link down to a solitary wind turbine - a new granite stone track heads down from the turbine back to the shipping container.Isbjorn25/05/2019
From verge P at NJ498137. A very pleasant route with superb views to a somewhat prosaic summit.summitsup12/05/2019
