From the big layby at 294pt on B9119. Had to climb over the gate, up through the field of cows then along the track all the way to the summit. Back the same way. 2.9 miles 1hr 15 round trip. | JulieB | 01/10/2023 |
From 294m spit height up good tracks to summit with trigpillar and collapsed cairn/monument. Passed several Roe deer. | cjo | 01/10/2023 |
From B9119 nj 527 063 | BLACKHILL | 18/05/2023 |
A nice stroll from the quarry car park at the road summit. Up through the boggy field avoiding the quagmire around the dung heap, then into the forestry. The track is now nicely overgrown with a pleasant narrow path through the vegetables, then left fork on track up a wide clearing up to open moor and the top. Fine views as always. Returned by the narrow grassy path through the trees almost opposite the track junction, a bit longer but very pleasant. It becomes a narrow gravelly path with a few old way markers, leading downhill to a flatter path through lovely woodland along a steep hillside. A couple of boggy sections and a bit confused near the end at the Coull road junction but mainly very nice. The downside is a short walk back along the busy road. | Gill2 | 14/01/2023 |
Nice and easy walk up the track all the way from the parking lay-by on the road to the north. Took a little over 30mins | Pilotralph | 13/01/2023 |
Very large lay-by at top of road to north of hill. Knee-deep snow all the way up! With Mntainman. Fabulous summit in deep snow with blue skies. | Dangerous Dave | 12/12/2022 |
From the big lay-by nr. spot height 294m on the B9119.Then out to Corse Hill and back. | Kompass | 11/10/2022 |
Followed track from roadside parking to the north. | JasonStark | 25/06/2022 |
From the B9119. My old 1:50,000 map didn't show the track from the west leading to the summit, only the old path which I located and went up, only to get very wet and also took a hit from a spruce branch to the eye.
Poor research on my behalf. | PeteF | 21/08/2021 |
Parked at layby to NW. Up forestry track to summit. | sarahk | 20/03/2021 |
1/2 before Corse Hill, fantastic views to a white Morven | PDuncan82 | 01/12/2019 |
Winter is here. Cheek and nose tip numbing piercing cold and crunchy snow underfoot. Crystal clear beautiful light with a full dipping sun rapidly losing any warmth. Another of my regular last hour of daylight afternoon dashes to bag a summit or two after work before darkness at 4.50pm. Fast easy track walking -following two sets of fresh footsteps in the snow all way to summit -but saw no one and no one logged on hb for today. Good speed made along easy linking snowy paths / forest track to Corse Hill - for a tough rough descent N to just beat darkness -and a mile road walk back to car. | Chris Pearson | 08/11/2019 |

Ascended from the large layby up the marked track. Bagging the trig. | BigJ | 26/06/2019 |
From near pt294 on B9119, NJ527063, big lay-by on N side of road. Over gate and up initially wet and boggy grass track, churned by cows. Over step stile and up ATV forest track, gorse encroaching in places. Well up beyond first junction, pile of rocks on L indicates start of peaty path, L, direct to top. | Isbjorn | 27/05/2019 |
Climbed just before sunset from the large layby on B9119. Through cattle field and up forest track to summit with good cairn. 4.7km | PiranhaFish | 27/02/2019 |

Parked in large layby on B9119. Up snow covered track and took second junction after bend in track and followed path all way to summit Good views. Retraced outward route back to car, 3rd hill of day and tired by ploughing through snow. | Coinneach | 20/03/2018 |
6 of 6 today: Cairn William, Bennachie, Millstone Hill, Hill of Fare, Benaquhallie, Craiglich. Completes Section 21. | PGCE | 22/02/2018 |
Parked in an icy lay-by just up the road from the pillbox (N57° 08.701' W2° 47.071') and headed up the icy farm track. After a while we decided to see if we could find the wee track up through the forest (N57° 08.425' W2° 47.078') but it ended up being quite dense snow and a tough walk, Robbie had to have a few carries. Very windy and cold at the trig but a great view, took large track all the way back to the car. | thejackrustles | 15/12/2017 |
1 of 4: From B9119 layby: 527063 | ChrisR | 12/09/2017 |
Second of the day, from the now famous lay-by, up the easy track. The views from the track are brilliant, and the view from the top is 360. What a surprisingly good hill. But don't get too excited about the monument advertised by the OS, it has fallen down a bit. | Gill | 07/09/2017 |
From the lay-by at 527063 then followed the forestry track to the second fork marked by a cairn, took the left fork all the way to the summit.
Best hill of the three today. | Peterb | 04/07/2017 |

With Jenx, from big lay by, the usual track route. Path shown on map all but gone, easier to stick to the track and quicker. Windy but clear and great views. | nordicstar | 22/10/2015 |
Short walk- great views | hillsman | 27/09/2015 |
Perfect weather. From large lay-by ay 527063 (not shown on map). Ascent via so-called path shown on map, more direct descent down firebreak and clearing. | Topographer57 | 03/12/2014 |
Usual route from the N. | AndrewFinnimore | 12/09/2014 |
from layby at 294m. Path at 525058 is imaginary but is an easy ride. There is a landrover track along the crest of the ridge which probably joins up with the main forest track to W. Pleasant views. | Thearlaichdubh | 08/09/2014 |
same day as pressendye. | robertphillips | 06/07/2014 |

High cloud, cold wind on top, dry, good views. | iangalbraith | 24/09/2009 |
From parking place at NJ526063. Solo. On track across cow field and into the forest S of the road. This goes steadily uphill SW and then S. I was hoping to find a break in the forest and indeed found a track branching off east. This was not shown on my map. I followed this track which took me straight to the summit of Craiglich. Back same way. | pwbellarby | 21/07/2009 |
Parked at the 294 spot height. Then a pleasant stroll up to the top with good views to the west. | garyhoney | 11/07/2008 |
Revisit. Trig beside crumbling beehive cairn. low-heather summit, fine view. From NJ524061, signposted path heads SSW, leading eventually to summit. Heathery shortcut tempting, e.g. from from 523056 on descent. | RHW | 05/05/2007 |
