Soft verges so parked in wide forest entrance to W. at SJ 1615 1152 - Up lane to farm buildings at 169117 & then S. up bridleway to gate at 169116 - Along fence line to an old iron gate & then a short climb NE to summit. | gerrybowes | 02/04/2023 |
There is a small parking space along the road to the NE, from which a ROW leads through Bank Wood to the sheep field above. Then simply head westerly along the top of the wood once over the field gate. A loose wire fence just below the summit is the only barrier ... unless you are fearful of sheep of course. | summitter | 27/05/2022 |
knoll with open woods and ancient fortifications. Part of 8 tump circuit from Meifod on a clear sunny day | Denise | 14/03/2022 |
From the S through field gate in fence surrounding the pleasingly domed hill. Open oak woods on sides, secluded open grassy top. Ancient hill fort. | RichardM | 14/03/2022 |
From Pen pant Mawr and then south to Big Forest. Delightful wooded summit. | Campbell Singer | 20/01/2022 |
Parked in the lane to the north at 17265 11775 up a track through the woods to a gate then doubled back across pasture and over a low bwf to the summit. | clivevilla | 23/02/2021 |
From n, parked further E. Lovely wooded hillfort, hp by tree at S edge | RHW | 27/03/2017 |
Chatted with farmer and provided i.d. a shame they feel they have to do this but i fully support them in doing so. A very straightforwatd ascent. Theres a gated access around the back of the top. Trees obscure most of the view. | stig_nest | 25/04/2016 |
A round of Big Forest, Moel y Sant, Pen Pant-mawr (Bank Wood) and Bryn Fron-fawr - plus Bwlch Clump (SJ 170 108) in case Myrddyn revises his calculations. Tried to optimise the use of PRoWs but a number on the map have been effectively eliminated on the ground. | summitsup | 11/02/2016 |
