Went up from Alma, rough in places but also indistinct animal tracks to follow. HP near trig. Came back at first by telegraph poles but soon veered off to fence which followed back down.PeterD11/05/2023
Drove part way up track from SE. Much improved from previous comments but stopped before steep rough section just by lochans. Walked last km to summitSpudGunn04/07/2022
Easy ascent from Alma on dry ground.govanah08/05/2022
From start of track by the White Woman. Up and down the track in just under 2hrs, pausing to take in the view. Sunny and clear.N.Morters28/04/2022
Opted for thr longer and duller track Would not fancy this unless one was an experienced 4 wd driver used to using the differentials Large sections of the tracks have been washed out Few passing places Steep edges to tracks Binxies golden plover merlin snipe m pipitVerySlowPlodder19/07/2021

end-to-end. Up major track from 'white wife' on A968 south of Loch of Watlee. Down by power lines over rough ground to Alma. KeithByTheC27/06/2021
MC JC O. Up track from main road. Great coastal views. Appears to be an old gun replacement at the top. The coastline also has the remains of an old Norse long house.Martin6610/09/2020

05.45 up from the track at end of road to the west, not realising that there was chance of drive up to summit ridge.vegibagger17/06/2019
Solo. Parked near Westing where road crosses Burn of Bighton. Up the road and track at Westing to open hillside. Up east to join the track that goes to the summit. Back same way. Mist disappeared on the ascent so good views.pwbellarby16/06/2019
I left Alma and walked the line.Chris Peart12/06/2019
P at Alma. Followed transmission poles for most of way to summit. Good views.ger11/06/2019
The hire car made a pretty decent job of getting up the track from the south end of Loch of Watlee. The track is mainly fine up to the end of Longa Water, except for a short washed out section which needs care. It would have been cruel to take the car any higher; there's a short, steep loose section with deep holes, which needs a 4x4. It's an easy walk thereafter, up to a gun platform (the reason for the road) and then hop over the fence to the trig and the summit. Good views. NOTE: once you've paid for the ferry to Yell, the onward ferries to Unst or Fetlar are free of charge if you travel the same day.Gill21/08/2018
Drove up dirt road from south. Stymied at same place as RHW in 2013. Passable ok in a 4x4 (as the one following us easily proved), but not our 2WD Kia hire car - steep, deep ruts and loose surface. I tried and failed. 1Km left to walk. Track ends at the trig - bldg remains appear to be WWII vintage (searchlight battery and gun emplacement?), but with some modern(ish) 3-pin 240V outlets - all very odd. So roadto no-where was most likely for War Dept access.jonglew21/08/2018
From Alma. Straight up the powerline on rough ground. Track to south would have been longer, but pleasanter.PeteN15/08/2018

From Alma. The electricity poles provide a good line and get you most of the way there.PGCE02/05/2018
Parked at Alma then along path to Vallafild then joined line of pylons all way to summit. Great viewsCoinneach26/05/2017
Parked at new layby at bridge just south of Westing. Walked up lane to abandoned farm on the Breck of Newgord and then steeply to the track on the ridge over looking Grossa Water. Followed this north to trig. Continued on about a mile before descending past an abandoned quad bike. Followed coast and more abandoned farms to the track back to Newgord. Lots on serpentine on the tracks to collect!mindlessflogger26/08/2016
Parked in bend HP601087 (Alma on map), decent space for 1 car. Straight line to trig. Overcast, mild and windy.iangalbraith31/08/2014

Revisit with Adrian Rayner. Track has deteriorated since 2002 visit - impassable for my Fabia at HP 58732 07028 - probably as easy to just walk up from NE nowadays. RHW01/06/2013
