Path from col to NE. Hill has ancient ring mound earthworks and more recent rectangular structure on summit. High point man-made, hard to say where natural high point might have been. Very wet and muddy track to Rhyd-y-car. | RichardM | 05/11/2023 |

12 mile walk from Waun Fach hamlet, walked across fields then along track following river all the way to Cwmfforest farm, on way we helped a sheep after it got its horn stuck in a fence. From Cwmfforest the path heading north east doesn't exist, it started quite promisingly with a stile but then the barbed wire fences were across the paths route so cut across to the road up to Rhyd-Y-Car, climbed up onto Pen.Y.Grib, then onto Castell Dinas, great views from both then descended west onto Mynydd Troeds slopes finding a contouring path up to the summit (2nd time bagged), from there walked along ridge to Mynydd Llangorse (2nd time bagged), up to the small pile of stones on summit, from there headed NE east and descended path (doesn't follow route shown on map) through Blaenau-Draw farm back to car. Afterwards drove to and bagged The Begwns. Perfect walking weather; sunny/windy and perfectly clear, could see for miles, saw about 20 people all day. | DanTrig | 01/09/2019 |

Fascinating hill fort summit with a more recent (but old) ruin. Access is good and it is the first top on the Y Grib ridge (apologies to Welsh for the tautology)- I guess the best way onto the Black Mountains. I continued to Waun Fach and returned to Pengenffordd via Pen Trumau, gravel/stone surfaced paths where there had been a wide, eroded peaty mess. I missed Castell Dinas in Jan 1991 when I did a similar walk over Waun Fach(qv)- was the issue access or light of day then?- I can't remember. Fine with just a 10 min shower today. | pwheeler | 21/04/2018 |
Climbed with Kate, Ellie, Steve, and Loki from Dragon’s Back car park. Cold and windy day, couldn’t take Ellie further up the ridge. Beautiful spot. | cdshear | 28/03/2018 |
