Following the 1807 route on the Cwmcarn Forest website with a slight diversion to take in Medart as well as Twmbarlwm, nice views over the Bristol Channel though Medart is a pretty indistinguishable summit off piste of the tracklboutside13/01/2024

On a visit to Cwmbran so I planned a nice little 13mi run incorporating visits to the summits of Twmbarlwm, Medart and Mynydd Twyn-glas. Parked at Henllys Nature Reserve (free parking) and made my way up from there. Twmbarlwm the easiest of the three summits to find; Mynydd Twyn-glas also has a trig point and not to challenging; Medart doesn't really have anything distinguishable, and there's an artificial raised bit near the summit. All in all it was a lovely route in the hills!ewangibb8711/11/2022

Footpaths up from Cwmcarn, forest drive closed. Good paths to trig and higher castle mound. I fail to see why the mound is not considered to be the high point, seems inconsistent to the approach taken on many other Tumps with old fortificationsColin Crawford14/10/2021

Parked at barrier and took meandering route upwards using numerous fps. Found later on signs limiting access because of serious fire damage during the hot summer. Wet and misty today.Campbell Singer15/08/2018
