Wet. Chose the wrong day for a permit. But, at least, it's done.Martin R25/03/2024
From end of the Harthope Valley, masses of parking. Long track to Goldscleugh (NT 9140 2332), then headed up. Cold Law on the return.jonglew24/03/2024

No 4 . slow, pathless tussocky approach from Newton Tors. Hard work on cold blustery day with no shelter. Small cairn. Feels wild and remote. Dwarfed by Cheviot. onto Preston Hill -terrain improves .Denise 03/02/2024

Cold Law, Broadhope Hill, Preston Hill, Hare Hill, Newton Tors and Coldburn Hill from Langleeford. Bagging 3 Deweys. Gale force winds and sodden underfoot added to the feeling of remoteness of this far northern corner of England. 21km in 6h20m. (S)silveracorn_alan06/07/2020
Biked down valley from CP to N. Mapped path, then atvs - keep right NT 8986 2469 and again at NT 8990 2467. Right on cut swathe at NT 9006 2460. Forking left on game keeper's rough path at NT 9005 2448 helpscarole engel26/08/2019
very hot day, from Hare Law a bit boggy but fairly easy as I followed a few ATV tracks. I ascended the northern flank watched by a herd of cows. Twin cairns slighty confused me in my heat stroke state - which to choose? Descended NW to Southernknowe and back on the road to Hethpool.Jhimmy25/07/2019

From Hethpool, with Jenx and Bryher. Down the College valley road on foot, super sunny autumn day. Right round to Goldscleugh (could drive here) and direct up Preston hill beside felled plantation. Then the fence line to col, Coldburn Hill then more roughly across to track leading over Hare Law and Newton Tor. Fine views all around, steeply down wall line then fence to Hethpool bridge and car.nordicstar26/09/2017

Coldburn, Hare Law, Newton Tors, West Hill from Hethpool. Afternoon start after nightmare drive from Yorkshire, Great Yorkshire Show plus A1(M) eternal roadworks. Tedious walk up road to just after Southernknowe, then broad grassy track up to shoulder. Few hundred metres of rough stuff to top with a couple of cairns. Then back and across to Hare Law.Aye Jimmy12/07/2016

It really saves a lot a time if you purchase a pass to enter the valley. These are available in advance from the estate agent in Wooler (search for ......... pass college valley). This allows parking alongside Coldburn Farm where a tractor track leads up to the col. Under an hour return walk from here.moorsman29/07/2015
