Parked just off the road at 15253625. Followed the sign through the gate and over the field to the stile looks like nobody has been this way for years, the path is overgrown after the stile. Once on the track continue up past the Mast and around on to the hill top. Return the same way.smocks and denims23/10/2023

From the east, taking FP that wends its way alongside quarry up to the masts. Over locked gate, through trees to HP near quarry road.PeterD21/04/2023

My first assault on Moota hill was thwarted at the locked gate which is in full view of the working quarry and despite of the footpath way mark inviting me on I decided not to risk a confrontation with unhappy quarry men and turned back for another day. Which happened to be today (a Sunday). Parking in the spacious access entrance by the road junction I used the footpath to skirt around the quarry to said locked gate, then over the top to the end of the footpath and through trees (which will make this final section unpleasant and difficult in a couple of years) to the obvious summit overlooking a quarry road and another quarry in the distance. An unremarkable hill but bag it while you still can!ytfckent12/02/2023

The grass verge is just wide and solid enough to park 50m N of the bend at pt.196 (NY 14777 36745). Back SE along B5301 to FP sign and a climb over the locked gate. Followed FP SW then diversion around edge of quarry to NW mast, then L, SSE to smaller mast where FP ends at locked gate - a climb over and a bash through young trees to highest point. Bramble thickets surround main mast so back same way until could easily cross non-BWF onto mast direct access track and past a bull with the grumpiest face I have ever seen.Isbjorn03/01/2022
Parked near path to south east. Followed path to track which goes to the mast. Into field with sheep and cows then over another barbed wire fence to summit. Moo is appropriate as a lot of cows with calves in the fields so took a longer route than straight up to mast.Alan Caine10/07/2021

From the NE track up the side of the hedge followed by a pudding to satisfy your appetite: back to Cockermouth across fields and parkland.Eddie06/08/2020
Bridleway from the west has been diverted. Leads to the top - perched on the edge of the quarry extension.Moorponder30/12/2019
Nice top - eventually but harder than expected. Paths have been re-routed into 6 foot wide coridoors ruined by cattle tracks in the wet ground. Found way through forest at top.GordonAdshead09/11/2019
Definitely a hill that has gone down in my family folklore. Met Mr Big who thought that I was somebody else and handed me a bag full of cash. Can't say any more in case he has paid hitmen. Roadside parking dicey but foreman at the building site across the road gave me permission to use his car park. Follow the footpath, then the mast access lane. Summit unaffected by quarrying and is quite distinctive if you can find it. Cross the fence by the mast and follow the fence for about 50m The summit is obvious if you look through the trees.moorsman18/10/2019

Marginal parking roadside on B5301 at start of a RoW. Would have been better to park at 196m spot height and walk up the comms mast access track - the way I came down. Quarry works affects the HP, best guess is by a disused sectional mast, near a brick bldg.jonglew13/12/2017

Easy verge parking on B5301 by start of footpath. Section of footpath now removed by quarrying activity. However easy to hop over new temporary barrier and follow line of old path without any problems.Hillsidenick23/04/2016

From bend in rad, gateway parking for one. Up FP opposite to top fence line. Through Quarry fence and track on edge of excavations right round to teh top. Uninspiring, may be gone soon if workings extend.nordicstar02/12/2014
