Large layby opposite Whintonhill Farm. Signposted concessionary path around field edges as far as the access land. Through a gate into the access land and follow the wall on your right until you come to a path crossing the wall after the forest ends. Follow the right hand side wall upwards to the col and look for a gap into the forest. 100m after the wall there is a solid forestry track leading to just shy of the summit. Turn into the trees to find it (somehow)moorsman03/08/2022

Very late ascent in the dark to avoid angry farmer.conanharrod02/05/2021

From spot height 167 to SE, although very much overlooked by mapped (but unnamed) cottage up track in N direction. Up via field boundaries, back via track in wood, skirting to east of cottage. No issues.carole engel06/04/2019
accessed via track to SE. Pretty forest. A lot of small scale quarrying all over. Quite curious.jenx03/03/2019
Repeat w Jenx and Bryher using Jez’s access route. Into quarry this time, still disused. Interesting pits around where stone was removed, now young trees growing in them.nordicstar03/03/2019
From south, then east along track, then north west on track then found the summit by trial and lots of error. It's a very definite flat, grassy clearing with a few bits of junk lying around. The rock's easy to identify from Jonglew's picture. Lovely forest. Not one for the dark or the bracken season.Wycombe Wanderer22/09/2018

Route as per peebs. Followed permissive path for about 170m then a bee-line for NY 5121 3969, which happens to be a boarded up estate building, hide perhaps. Did the site of the destroyed trig pillar first then the 1.7km down to the tump. Interetsing woodland, lots of old surface quarrying evidence. Visited all of RHW's observed high points, and a few others, lots of them there. There is a large boulder 10-15m S of the flat clearing which overtops it, so guessing that's the HP - NY 51793 38269.jonglew31/07/2017
From Whintonhill on A6 (convenient lay-by opposite) giving the only access to the Access land. The forest is so undulating that finding a top is pointless. The views from the ridge are good and the peaceful access land is worth the trouble even in 6ft bracken.peebs16/07/2017
The hill has recently been purchased for quarrying. No access from Scratchmere Scar farm. Suggest approach from road to SSE.jimbloomer07/06/2017
From Scratchmere Scar Farm. Useful car park and permissive path for the approach. (See http://cwr.naturalengland.org.uk/default.aspx?Site=7158) Bracken could be troublesome in summer.mae24/12/2016

Difficult to decide summit in overgrown woodland. Knolls everywhere and quarried pits (some 10m deep) lurking in undergrowth. Highest found was clearing with couple of pines and flat stone NY 51795 38286.Aye Jimmy19/10/2015
