Parked at Finsthwaite car park for circuit with Sue of, Summer Sides Wood, Finsthwaite Heights, Rusland Heights and Great Green Hows, returning passing High Dam. Damp start but lovely warm afternoon.Frank01/05/2023
From high dam car park, summer sides wood, finsthwaite heights, Rusland heights, great green howes, Scott Park heightsphilz00807/03/2023
Parked at the lower High Dam car park (£3 all day) at Finsthwaite. Followed much of the Greenwood Trail (often shown by the helpful white topped posts), branching off as necessary to visit Stott Park Heights, Great Green Howes, Rusland Heights, Low Heights (tough to reach), Summer Sides Wood, and AW's Finsthwaite Heights. Then a loop on the east side of Finsthwaite for the Tower on Summer House Knott. The whole figure of eight was 17.5km with 750m ascent, taking me 6 hours. Tougher terrain than its modest elevation would suggest.silveracorn_alan28/10/2022
Parked at High Dam car park for a 7.3km, 250m ascent, circuit of Finsthwaite Heights, Summersides Wood, Great Green Hows and Stott Park Heights.PGCE12/11/2021

“Not worth the candle” (AW) and AW’s BoOF is OoD. Arrived at first light to secure the only 1 x fully-off-tarmac parking at SD3675086450. N over railway then immediately L and then soon R (N) well before the properties (not garages, now posh houses) on signposted good PFP up narrow fenced corridor and up to tower. Permitted path NE from tower to join BW at SD372872, N in trees then NW across fields to Finsthwaite (NB Pay & Display CPs are in abundance hereabouts, but there is donation parking at the church when no services). Up through AW’s bespattered caravan site to High Dam track. The correlation between mapped features and ground features in the area S of High Dam is poor - take a GPS. Back to Finsthwaite via Summer Sides Wood and SSW on PFP to the posh properties.Isbjorn23/10/2021
A good series of paths passing the southern end of High Dam as far as a point due west of the summit. Cross a breach in the wall and then a bracken bash in mid summer.moorsman16/07/2021
From the lower car park at High Dam. High Dame delightful on a sunny evening, but it took my GPS to track down the Finsthwaite Heights 'summit'. From there a good track led me to the brackeny summit slopes of Summer Sides Wood.Nick Down129/06/2021
We came here to look for a geocache on our way to bag Mr AWs Finsthwaite Heights. I could tell from my Garmin watch that this was higher than Finsthwaite Heights. Pleased to find its a hill we can bag having only come here for the cache.RowanP17/11/2020
From United Utilities car park near Finsthwaite village, Wainwright 'Summit, which is very underwhelming, then on to the actual summit of Finsthwaite Heights(Suumersides Wood). There is no view form the actual summit due to tree growth. Still a bit of a view down from the wainwright 'summit'Lazylizzie03/08/2020

Rock outcrop within dead bracken in area with many paths and not too much mud- a surprise. Mild and misty.High Dam carpark is £5.50 per day National Park car park.Denise 28/12/2019
From Finsthwaite, farm track onto Access Land, path up vegetated hillside to summit. Small cairn on rock outcrop. Sun trying to break through the greyness. Calm and mild.RichardM28/12/2019

After Finstwaite heights via some good tracks. No views. With Colin.Andrew Pearson15/11/2019
4/4 Great Green Hows from High Dam then on good tractor tracks over to Rusland Heights. Then used orienteering poles to lead us over towards the reservoir below Low Heights. Keep slightly south of the summit of Low Heights to avoid most of the Juniper - at one point we had to retreat and try again but found way up in the end, then head North East on various paths back to get Summer Sides Wood and down to Finsthwaite. Small hills, but tough underfoot this took us 4 hours!nickywood107/09/2019
Finsthwaite Heights walk from Newby Bridge. At least a proper top after the disappointment of F.H. itself.milimana03/04/2019

Roadside parking at SD 36948 88169. With Rick Nordicstar on pleasant round of 6 hills as per ronaldo333 but with the Wainwright outlier Finsthwaite Heights tacked on the end. 9.5km over a mix of rough, wet ground and easy paths.jonglew09/01/2018

Parked at Bobbin Mill car park. After visiting Low & High Dam, and then roaming around the vicinity of the WO, made our way up to the bracken covered Tump & enjoyed a great view of the Eastern Fells. (PM)gerrybowes16/09/2016

From entrance to High Dam (P&D) carpark (some parking on road). Stott Park heights, Great Green Hows, Rusland Heights, Low Heights and Finsthwaite Heights. Much walking on flattened, dead bracken - you have been warned.jimbloomer17/12/2013
From Bobbin Mill, went to this first then over to the considerably lower Finsthwaite Heights.Aye Jimmy04/12/2013
With Jo, walk from Finsthwaite: Finsthwaite Heights (Summer Sides Wood), Finsthwaite Heights (Wainwright? – I don’t think so. This is certainly not the top depicted in our copy of AW’s Outlying Fells book which is a mile south east on Summer House Knott (Tower and all)), Great Green Hows, Stott Park Heights, returning pass High Dam and Low Dam. Weather; high cloud, mild, good visibility.amblerbob27/11/2013
Came up here to the high point while doing the Finsthwaite Heights route described in The Outlying Fells of England. With Éire, Evan, Sail, Danú, Coel & Alfie. Not a summit on Hillbagging at the time. I recorded it as Finsthwaite Heights (230m) in the mountain log books. Ticked now in 2021!Dangerous Dave05/04/2013
