There is a road side gate almost due north which leads to access land and this easy summit which has good viewstrimarc205/12/2022
Same as Moorsman's route, but no farmer about today. A sunny interlude in an otherwise cloudy day.silveracorn_alan27/10/2022
Early morning gamble hoping for the overnight rain to stop had me arriving in Newton at 8am -an hour early for 1st Aid Course (day 2) in village hall starting at 9am. From road top. The overnight rain kindly just ended leaving swirling mists blowing around the many small slate outcrops, with shafts of sunrise slanting through and glimmering silver off the Kent estuary. Low mist sitting in the valley bottom over Cartmell looked like a lake. Raven Crag - a minor P20 to the east added as an out and back looking initially like a mighty Kilimanjaro as it formed out of the mist to reveal its true miniature size. The connecting dry stone wall along the lumpy terrain is a work of art - as they all are. Definitely time to concede that my worn smooth trail shoes have had their day, as studded fell shoes (or maybe crampons?!) would have been better today in getting a grip on the slippery waterlogged smooth grass. Non the less a fine little outing.Chris Pearson25/10/2022
From Tow Top Road. Small parking spot immediately before the fell access gate. First 200m not a right of way but farmer, feeding his stock, waved as I passed.moorsman19/05/2022

From SD 4063 8328, Whin Brow first then back to the road junc for Newton Fell. One stone wall to negotiate near the summit.jonglew04/12/2018
Ascended from Low Newton via Raven Scar in a gale force east wind. The footpath from the village is not signposted, but can easily be picked up once through the farmyard. As there is a wall to cross, this hill is better ascended from the north.JohnW18/03/2018

After the northern Newton Fells walked on road to Low Newton. Not able to access the FP to East as deep pools of slurry blocked path, walked road instead to lane leading to Moss End Farm.Locals there grudgingly let us through and rejoined path, up easily through grass rake and a wall to Dixon Heights, great views. Then down to col, another wall climb and a ATV track through scrubby broken and bracken ground. After minor tops and cattle a last wall climb to gain the central Newton Fell. Easy train then down through gates to minor road and car nr Pt 157.nordicstar08/12/2016

Newton Bus stop to Lindale over White Stone (via caravan site), Saskills, Whin Brow, Newton Fell and Dixon Heights.Eddie12/01/2015
Along the ridge from Dixon Height. A few walls to climb but nothing impossible. I descended straight down to Tow Top Road, only one field was a trespass but gates were easily surmountable and gave no problems. A great rocky top and it looks good from below too.Jake99424/12/2014

Wainwright outlying fells route from Lindale (Royal Oak car Park) to DIXON HEIGHTS. Continued down to Tom tarn - Ravens Scar to NEWTON FELL. No rights of way but obviously walked a lot. Lovely Sunny afternoon with distant storm clouds threatening.Hill Wanderer25/05/2014
