From high dam car park, summer sides wood, finsthwaite heights, Rusland heights, great green howes, Scott Park heightsphilz00807/03/2023
Walk from Bowness via Ferry to Newby Bridge on very wet day. Middle How first then Stott Park Heights, via track almost opposite VMCA and this leads almost to toptrimarc208/11/2022
Parked at the lower High Dam car park (£3 all day) at Finsthwaite. Followed much of the Greenwood Trail (often shown by the helpful white topped posts), branching off as necessary to visit Stott Park Heights, Great Green Howes, Rusland Heights, Low Heights (tough to reach), Summer Sides Wood, and AW's Finsthwaite Heights. Then a loop on the east side of Finsthwaite for the Tower on Summer House Knott. The whole figure of eight was 17.5km with 750m ascent, taking me 6 hours. Tougher terrain than its modest elevation would suggest.silveracorn_alan28/10/2022
Solo Recce on 9th. Led walk of 40 plus from British Naturism on 13th. Never met a soul on whole ascent either time. NNick Caunt09/08/2022
Parked at High Dam car park for a 7.3km, 250m ascent, circuit of Finsthwaite Heights, Summersides Wood, Great Green Hows and Stott Park Heights.PGCE12/11/2021
There is an official National Park parking area about 200m on the left up the minor road just north of Finsthwaite. (4 for 4 hours, £5.50 for up to 9 hours). However there is a private one available immediately that you turn up the said minor road. (Don't know the cost, if any) A good track leads you to High Dam where you turn right and then right again all the way up to within 100m of the summit.moorsman16/07/2021
With E. Another return to this beautiful area. A glorious summers day. From Lakeside Hotel through Great Knott Wood, Finsthwaite, High Dam. Picnic at the summit and return same route. High Dam seems to have become a popular location for open water swimming.Beeliner30/06/2021

Climbed while at High Dam on a family picnic. Bracken made it difficult for the children up to rocky outcrop. Bench that use to be here has gone. “It’s the top of the world!” exclaimed granddaughter. Not quite but great views in all directions today, especially of Lake Windermere.Beeliner31/07/2018
Finsthwaite High Dam - STOTT PARK HEIGHTS - Great Green Hows - Finsthwaite Heights - Summer Sides Wood. A nice sunny morning walk ruined by BRACKEN! A new 4x4 track leads almost to the top.citygent11/06/2018
This may be one of the prettiest summits ever. Beautiful view across Windermere from summit. From Crosslands, via the tarn and then attempted the most direct summit - main path would have been easier though which is marked on the ordnance survey. Roadside parking at SD 36948 88169. With Rick Nordicstar on pleasant round of 6 hills as per ronaldo333 but with the Wainwright outlier Finsthwaite Heights tacked on the end. 9.5km over a mix of rough, wet ground and easy paths.jonglew09/01/2018

From High Dam with Andy and Alf. Keep on the public footpath from Roger Height. A path right to the top can be picked up near the small beck in woodland south of the top.mick08/03/2017
Surprised and delighted to find an easy path up this one as I had lost the willpower for another bracken battle with this being 8th of an 8 tumps walk/run. Path worn by outdoor groups from YMCA centre below who climb on the crag which the path skirts . Belay chain at top of crag. Got a welcome lift back to Bowness ferry from 2 friendly YMCA instructors which saved a long road plod / jog.Chris Pearson10/07/2016

Tump 1 of 5 from Finsthwaite. Wide rocky track then smaller paths (e.g. from small quarry) to nice rocky summit. Then to Great Green Hows.RHW06/09/2015
Unique as I paid to park! Never paid to climb a Cumbrian hill before and this was No.1137peebs27/08/2015

With Jo, walk from Finsthwaite: Finsthwaite Heights (Summer Sides Wood), Finsthwaite Heights (Wainwright? – I don’t think so. This is certainly not the top depicted in our copy of AW’s Outlying Fells book which is a mile south east on Summer House Knott (Tower and all)), Great Green Hows, Stott Park Heights, returning pass High Dam and Low Dam. Weather; high cloud, mild, good visibility.amblerbob27/11/2013
