Easy from Aiketgate, on the footpath. The ROC station on top was a surprise, with open shaft and descending ladder. I visited the adjacent field but it seemed no higherColin Crawford19/11/2023
1st off 11 'roadside' tumps in NE Cumbria (twixt Penrith & Carlisle) either side of a day trip Kendal to Dumfries to visit dentist & brother. Pitch black and raining out there before the miracle of our turning earth brought some photons to produce a grey dripping dawn as I arrived at Aiketgate. Wellies and golf umbrella order of the day for the wet grass and frequent showers. Natural summit is in first field 10 m past orange gas pole, but higher artificial summit and spot ht is on mound over ROC bunker over wall - but connecting gate too heavily barb wired - so gained by going back to b/w and next gate along angling back up. ROC lid missing with shaft open and ladder leading down. Met dog walker back on track who had parked behind me and got into a real lead tangle/ flap trying to control her two yapping poodles who reacted as though they had never seen another human before - presumably they never do on their early morning walk here.Chris Pearson24/10/2023
Parked on the unsealed road at 482123 46517, up that road. Don't take the first gate just past the orange gas main marked but the next one which goes into the summit field.clivevilla16/04/2023
Plentiful parking down the first section of the unsealed road SW from Aiketgate. Follow the road as it becomes a rough track to a gate just past the summit. After passing the summit go left through a gate and cross the field to the highest point.moorsman04/08/2022
Quick walk up from Aiketgate along the byway and through the metal gate (grass not crop field) goes straight to the top in two minutes. 15 minutes in total.nickywood104/01/2022
HNY. Will have to remember to say 22 from tomorrow.Martin R31/12/2021

Drove up farm track to field gate; quick nip over to the hill top. HP seems to be NW end of the Armathwaite ROC Post.jonglew24/05/2018
From NW. Excellent parking up lanejimbloomer18/08/2016
Walked down lane from NW until convenient gateway into crop field and very young plantings. Around edges of field, any semblance of stealth negated by loud bellowing from frisky cows in next field.Aye Jimmy25/10/2015
Full grown crop field- worked round edge of field to spot heightpeebs16/07/2015
ROC bunker is highest point; natural HP may be a few m away. Easy access from NWRHW05/10/2014
On way to work. Parked also at farm entrance. Easy up lane then into field through gate. Two tops, one has old water reservoir on top, probably man made, other is in middle of field. Mown corn fortunately for me.nordicstar19/09/2014
