Up track to ash house, then upwards to summit. A very pleasant little hill | cjo | 14/10/2023 |
Parked on layby on A595 to east. Followed tracks through wood which takes you away from the top but comes back round. Gate at SD19191 87431 was open and this gave an unimpeded route to the top. Then route to A595 almost due south. Then half a mile along the road back to the car. | Alan Caine | 24/12/2021 |
Parked at the entrance to Ash House by the post box. Path north to the house then east leads to a gated wall. Cross through and then there is an unimpeded walk to the summit. | moorsman | 11/05/2021 |
Parked at entrance to Ash House, used their footpath to get access to the other footpath which rises from the main road further East. This gave a very short access to summit with no walls to climb. Small boy told us there was no path across between the two paths - but there is actually one. | nickywood1 | 11/08/2020 |
Parked to SW, FP led to very muddy area, then into pasture and up to top. Came back done through field almost directly to road. | PeterD | 28/12/2019 |

From the P6 parking spot, there's a footpath sign but rather hidden. Up through woods, large hole in wall near top of hill. Fine viewpoint. | Aye Jimmy | 04/05/2015 |
Circular walk on pleasant spring day from the very interesting Duddon Iron Furnace to three fine viewpoints.Barrow-Swinside Stone Circle-Knott Hill(up from west with one nasty wall to climb and down east to north of Cragg Hall with no walls to climb)-Mount Wood. With Oscar. | catman | 02/04/2015 |

Last of 4 tops (Pen, Barrow, Knott Hill) on a 3 hour run from / to Broughton on a windy dry short winter's afternoon. Grassy summit easily gained via a gate in field from public fp passing Ash House. Lost the fp onwards into woods (stayed in fields too long) so dropped down through woods at dusk to lower path back to Ironworks and Christmas lights in cottages. FP through meadows flooded so forced to walk verge of nasty main road for km -flashing torch useful in dusk as a warning to motorists. | Chris Pearson | 23/12/2014 |
Parking at start of path opposite a (Millom bound) sign 'P 6 miles'. One wall to climb near summit. | jimbloomer | 03/12/2014 |
