Parked in pull-in to SE at SD 49295 76431 - NNE up road & about 20m beyond the locked & meshed gates straddled wire fence - Along vehicle track to limestone pavement summit. A dozen or so roe deer.gerrybowes29/02/2024
From Cringlebarrow Hill. On RoW through Yealnd Hall Allotment to wide ride heading N. Over broken wall and through metal gate into sheep pasture W of summit. Over another gate to encounter a 'no public access' sign at gate NW of summit. Off same way. KeithByTheC25/02/2024
Dedicated parking spot at the road junction to the south. Walk back up the road to a field gate after which a good path leads to the summitmoorsman13/07/2023

I saw several deers beyond the gate but unlike the previous entry, they were being quiet and shy.Alan Moore30/11/2022
Repeat visit in passing on drive home after 1st supply teaching day at Bleasdale SpLD school in Silverdale. Halloween theme today -pumpkins, ghosts and bats. Getting over the gate with my bruised ribs was surprisingly painful (from falling on a wet rock slab on the OMM in Langdale yesterday). I then had to avoid the bellowing stag and his harem of @ 30 hinds - this being the rutting season when stags are flooded with testosterone and adrenaline. I read that in the rut, a stag will weigh around 25 stone and have sharp antlers. Being hit by a stag travelling at full speed of up to 30mph is the equivalent of being mown down by a motorbike. Not a good prospect for my already sore ribs, and I only wanted a peaceful 20 min wander. The granite erratic boulder (-see my 2016 entry) has rolled / been pushed off the spoil mound..Chris Pearson31/10/2022
After Cringlebarrow, up through open access pasture to broken wall at SD49057660. Then scrubby limestone to high point. On to The Trough.Flatfield16/10/2022

4 tump round walk - Thrang Brow, Trowbarrow, Summerhouse Hill, Cringlebarrow. Starting from pull in by woods at Yealand Storrs road junction. Good clear day, bit windy. Please note spoke to farmer - not happy with folk on his land - regular shoots taking place.Argentum6629/01/2022

Delightful and different terrain to usual- wooded limestone pavement. Parked at road junction by E/W footpath and then walked N. HP unmarked- limestone outcrop. When we drove past gate to E, it looked lower than expected!Denise 02/09/2021
Good parking at road junction to S. Summit is levelish area of limestone pavement and a large rock in scattered woodland. Yealand Hall Alllotment is a great area of limestone pavement with Yews.RichardM02/09/2021
Parked and approached from the path to the south. There is a wide ride with path, which leads to fields at the top. Walked round the fields and re-entered wood for summit by gate on access track from the west.JohnW24/06/2021

1/2 Up from Yealand Storrs using path recommended beside litter bin slip style. Then used nature reserve land to get across to Trowbarrow Quarry which approached through the trees to the West, then down the path along quarry edge South, into Quarry pit to watch climbers then back via Hawes Water.nickywood105/07/2020
From the gate at 493766 which gave me the impression they didn't want visitors. Under 10 minutes solo.bolton03/01/2020
From locked gate, which was easier to climb on way back. Number of HP contenders visited. Lots of deer, everywhere I looked, must have seen 20-30.PeterD30/12/2019
Plenty of room to park to the SE in large gateway to track SD493765.David Evans01/12/2019

From SD49397610 using small path immediately behind the squeeze thro' the wall by litter bin. Stood on numerous bits of limestone pavement but thought the small erratic boulder was highest bit - or the adjacent spoil mound.summitsup22/06/2018
From the lane to the east. Easy apart from awkward gate to get over.Campbell Singer05/06/2018

As every geography student used to be taught, (in the golden days before climate change and sustainability pushed it off the syllabus) limestone pavements are divided into the clints (blocks) and grykes (crevasses) which, with artistic licence, makes this a spaghetti western hill as the summit is a certain Clint East(of)wood'. Whilst deciding if this is a 'Good, Bad or Ugly' pun, you can for 'A Few Dollars More' try to decide if the summit might actually be the top of a granite erratic boulder (dumped by the ice on the limestone) to the south. Visited with Darren before riding off into the sunset heading back to El Paso (aka Milnthorpe) whistling those classic big movie theme tunes. Cowboy hat, poncho and a mean stare optional.Chris Pearson30/07/2016
Also saw the fallow deer. Not very shy - they must be used to baggers.ngthack08/05/2016
