Parked just of the road opposite the gate and track onto the fell. Grid 69184980. Follow the track for a few hundred mts then take one of the ATV tracks up on to the fell, follow it up and around to easy slopes, continue up to the cairn then down on to the three currocks. Return down form here picking up ATV tracks back to the start.smocks and denims20/09/2023

Walked from Slaggyford via Pennine Way.RobB31/12/2022
09:00, 5 degrees, sunny, calm (16 degrees heavy cloud later). This was a bit of mission creep as I didn't intend climbing Northumberland Tumps but noticing that I'm closing in on a Northern Pennines compleation, I thought I might as well go for it. Nice little start to the day - a shapely, heather-clad protuberance that looks vaguely Scottish. Fairly straightforward ascent from the east but does involve a wall - currently with a gap in it.Wycombe Wanderer28/08/2022

From A689 to NE. Room to park on verge near Kirkhaugh Cottage then track and rough grassland > Little Heaplaw. Then followed fences via Black Hill > Grey Nag. No paths but not too bad if you keep close to the fences.JohnR03/09/2021

13.3 mile circular from Castle Nook farm. Walked along Pennine Way south towards Alston then followed walled track onto the moors, climbed over easy walls onto Park Fell Summit and trig then left summit enclosure under barbed wire in broken wall, followed pathless but fairly easy ridge onto Benty Hill (all fence crossings are easy not barbed after Park Fell), then ascended Hartside Height onto Black Fell, followed broad ridge to Tom Smiths Stone Top Nuttall then Grey Nag, the numerous bogs on the way are still fairly dry at the minute. From Grey Nag descended east pathless at first then ATV track to Little Heaplaw, and descended steeply down to road, along road back to start. High Cloud/sunny, unsurprisingly saw no one all day.DanTrig04/08/2018
Parked just off main road NW of Castle Nook. Up RoW then across to Little Heaplaw. Then following fence/wall to Grey Nag and Tom Smith's Stone Top plus a few other minor tops. Return route took me over Great Heaplaw.Dugswell217/05/2018

Parked opposite gate giving access on the A689. Followed track and then headed up from the west. Descended via three curricks to the east, and straight down the fell side.Fisky Boy06/09/2015

From gate on main road at NY691,496. This is Access Land. As others have mentioned this route avoids crossing any walls. Super little hill, with good summit cairn which I made NY68611,49118. Three further cairns east of the summit ( marked 'Curricks' on OS map.)Crib Goch05/03/2014
A great little hill. Roadside parking alongside main road. Try and select a route up that avoids the walls as you are in sight of the farms below. Easy enough to do. Try and approach the cairns from the north as it avoids unnecessary climbing to the summit (there is a drop before it to the south).moorsman24/10/2013
Best way is straight up from the road. Starting up Pennine Way involves walls without gates.peebs06/08/2013
fine little summit, view of Roman fort & Alston; prominent cairns just < summit. e.g. from gate to ENE RHW25/04/2004
