Similar parking to moorsman, then RoW E of compound. Up by field edge round the back of the compound, then a short climb through overgrown area (OK in early November) to reach the fortifications. | mae | 04/11/2020 |
Best parking is on the reservoir access road apron although it is also possible to pull right off the (busy) road and park in the gate alongside the boundary fencing. Follow the field edge round and then the gorse at the back of the hill. If you just want to see the summit then climb up at a point where you can clearly see the fence. To stand on the highest accessible point you need to climb upwards before this at a feint track through the gorse. | moorsman | 25/10/2020 |
Up the edge of a wet, muddy field, then through nettles / gorse to a height that was below the enclosed reservoir | madaddo | 14/11/2019 |
RoW east side compound, then followed fenceline along N side, up grassy slope (nettles and a bit of gorse), through dense gorse to resr fencing, followed that along to its junc with the Arqiva fencing where I would also agree the high point is likely to be. Climbed to top of fencing - so clearly head above anything likely to be natural. | jonglew | 31/08/2019 |
True summit inaccessible due to thick brambles and gorse - even in winter. Got to NZ 19449 57837 | carole engel | 31/12/2018 |
Along bridleway at E side of fence, up through rough vegetation to NE corner of compound. HP on N side of fence. | John Lee | 06/11/2017 |
Gateshead bagging on the drive up to the Cheviot. Followed the footpath, then climbed up to back of compound fencing as others | the_adam | 24/06/2017 |
From road around field edge and up through gorse to HP by fence. | PeterD | 08/04/2017 |
As per others. Not pleasant.Madness rules. | vegibagger | 24/10/2016 |
Battle with stile, nettles & gorse | Bramley | 07/07/2016 |
From main road over broken stile, through field and round back of compound, through gorse to fence. | Campbell Singer | 24/05/2016 |
As for Dugswell2 | arranc | 11/03/2016 |
Footpath from road over very dilapidated stile. Round back of compound up bank to fence junction. Defeated by gorse for last two metres. That'll do for me. | ngthack | 26/02/2016 |
Round base to NE corner, grassy climb up N bank, short moderately brambly walk R to junction of fences which is approx at HP as per AJ comment and expected from 1:10k map. Post midnight UA completion, 3rd of the weekend. Bonus cut benchmark on NE corner of house opposite, hiding behind gatepost. | RHW | 12/12/2015 |
Access to railings/fence perimeter possible but prickly - gorse, brambles or holly. Thought the highest point was on N side towards NE corner where reservoir railings meet the Arqiva mast fence. | Aye Jimmy | 27/05/2015 |
I walked around this well defended TUMP. I could reach the fence in a few areas before turning back due to gorse. | Dugswell2 | 03/05/2015 |
Parked at SW corner. Hill flanks well guarded by dense gorse: but could just fight along 1m gap between gorse and high fence to a bit of a high point much the same height as inside the compound. | GordonAdshead | 11/03/2015 |
Wow, fortified or what. Inner compound with water tank/aerial. Outer compound extends to A692 and couple of houses guard another flank. Ramparts are fringed by deep gorse/grass. Walked around this one and thought of another day to try get closer, winter perhaps... | nordicstar | 19/06/2013 |
