Parked to NE at start of ROW. Stile at start of ROW, then along field boundary (which is where the path seems to go, although that is not what the 1:25k map shows). | PGCE | 02/05/2023 |
Small parking area opposite RoW sign (and stile) into field on N side of road - Easy to cross into summit field, as boundary fence is missing in places. | matty1971b | 06/04/2023 |
From the layby to the SW visited both areas. | robertphillips | 25/03/2023 |
Burdon Moor from GR: NZ 21499 57845. Entered summit field via a gate at NZ 21796 57677 but in direct view of the farmhouse so walked back to pick up the diagonal PROW footpath. Returned following the footpath line WSW, double bared wire fence where path meets the road but a new stile at NZ 21491 57867. This would be the best entry/ exit point and then diagonal to the summit. | ronaldo333 | 27/12/2022 |
From rough lay-by to south west through open gate.Up by fence to alleged top.A matter of minutes. | catman | 30/05/2021 |
From jonglew's parking spot. RoW sign (and stile) into field on N side or road, then a second stile (not used). No sign of RoW on ground heading NE, but it was on my map. Easy to cross into summit field, as boundary fence is missing in places. | mae | 04/11/2020 |
Small Layby at the start of the path to the west. The first field boundary does not exist so you can make a beeline for the summit. Cows all in a different field and separated by fencing. | moorsman | 25/10/2020 |
Parked up and ran up the field(s), through 2 BW fences to the supposed summit with 2 friendly horses close by. Difficult to determine the exact top. | madaddo | 17/10/2019 |
Roadside parking (NZ 2150 5785). Walked back to non-existent RoW heading off ENE, had to wade through roadside hedgerow and hop over stock fencing. HP in a paddock with a lot of inquisitive horses, friendly though. Wandered around the 215m co, then walked NE to the other one; wasn't able to determine where the HP was by eye. | jonglew | 31/08/2019 |
Flat top | carole engel | 31/12/2018 |
Gateshead bagging on the drive up to the Cheviot. Followed vague footpath to W to stay out of sight | the_adam | 24/06/2017 |
From west over gate and followed fence. Under Bwf near top to HP. Horses in pasture. | PeterD | 08/04/2017 |
From road ENE Padt ROW but also over acouple of barbed wire fences | vegibagger | 31/12/2016 |
From west over gate and followed bwf through pasture to indeterminate summit. | Campbell Singer | 24/05/2016 |
Grass fields and horses. | arranc | 11/03/2016 |
Camped overnight in van on minor road to SW after Sunderland completion day before. Ridiculous amount of traffic for such a minor road. Must be a commuting route. First of Gateshead completion today. | ngthack | 26/02/2016 |
From SW. Soggy field on a dark cold breezy night. A couple of level summit areas, had a good wander about, met some horses, enjoyed the streetlights view. | RHW | 12/12/2015 |
From lane to NE, at opposite end of f/p to SW approach. Not recommended, bullocks in field and awkward fence to cross. Possible high points near fence/fence junction, or fence/hedge junction. | Aye Jimmy | 27/05/2015 |
Parked on Birkland Lane to the SW then used footpath to gain high point near fence junction and in horse field. | Dugswell2 | 03/05/2015 |
As Rick: Footpath through good pasture. | GordonAdshead | 11/03/2015 |
I only did this because i was camping at the Rock Ridge music festival about 20 ins walk away. Otherwise wouldn't bother. | thenomad | 27/07/2014 |
Park easy to SW on minor road, room for a car. Follow FP to summit. Need to get across electified fence to get to true top. Great views of Newcastle city centre. | nordicstar | 19/06/2013 |
