From Clough Head car park, up permissive path & along Rossendale Way to junction at 739234 - N. along RoW for about 80m & then WNW across rough grass to trig point; managed to straddle the fairly loose & rusty bwf shortly before summit.gerrybowes03/02/2024
From the Grey Mare pub. Up the road a bit then over the bwf and straight up. All the boggy bits were frozen and so was I.clivevilla09/01/2024
With Oreo and Orca, after previous visits missed out the Trig, before a quick drive down to Brinscall Woods for an explore of the woods and waterfall.Alfa1M12/11/2023
Here for the trigpoint. TP:UK log: Parked at pub, walked up very busy road on verge, climbed fence and then headed to trigpoint.thejackrustles29/07/2023
Aptly named post lunch bag from the Grey Mare. Walked up the road from the pub, which is a big mistake given the traffic levels, and returned over the fields to NW, a far better approach.summitter31/10/2022
From Grey Mare pub.Andrew Pearson08/04/2022
From Clough Head car park. Now I know why it's called Rushy Hill.summitsup03/11/2021
Local Saturday afternoon walk in unexpectedly snowy conditions for April. Short circular walk from the Grey Mare Pub.Lazylizzie10/04/2021
followed summit fence for 350m from right of way through wind-farm to the east, then had to cross loose barbed-wire fence to get to trig point. KeithByTheC02/06/2020
last hill of the day parked across from Grey Mare pub up the road to a gate followed the path to fence then walked all the way round through chest deep reeds trying to avoid climbing over the barbed wire fence but still had to get over itcolinfielding27/05/2020
14:00, 7 degrees, very strong southerlies, light rain. From gate to SW.Wycombe Wanderer13/01/2020
Parked in the Grey Mare cp. Plenty of spaces. Over moorland keeping away from very busy road. Difficulty pulling out of cp and turning right due to very heavy traffic.Campbell Singer03/12/2019

On a one way walk from Belthorn to Holden Arms using the bus one way. Barbed wire seems to have been reinforced with 2nd row 4 inches higher. Fairly easy to step over it though just behind the trig on east side. Decent paths in both directions from there.Nick Caunt06/02/2019
Started from the Clough Head car park and followed the Rossendale Way to the Trig. Then down to pickup bank and back on the RW through Haslingdon Grane to Calf Hey ResWayne Mac17/10/2018
From the pull in opposite The Grey Mare - over BW to get on ROW ! Extensive views from trigMark Sims12/09/2018
From United Utilities visitor centre off B6232 to east.Free parking. Walked along Rochdale way over barbed wired fence into summit field, which was covered in rushes.mart079718/07/2018
Parked in lay by (B6232) near Visitor centre (with café) - Nab Hill - crossed Deep Clough to barbed wire fence to windfarm (this is all access land so why no stiles?). Followed fence across Oswaldtwistle Moor to the summit of Rushy Hill (with its trig) - Lingered as the light faded cold evening frost already forming deep blues / tinged with pinks giving way to darkness. Time to go home.briandavies07/01/2018
2nd hill of 6 today, having been dropped off by my Airbnb hosts to do and out and back to Turton Heights. I was feeling the cold and had a minor headache. I was dropped off at Pickup bank (although in this case, Drop-off point). I took a slender footpath, with West Pennine Way waymark to the road (B6232) then across to a patch of nasty dried brambles, over a fence, past brick/corrugated shelter then meandering through reeds to the Trig pillar. The Trig is a tad sunken so I walked on land immediately encircling it to be sure. Re-traced route to arrive back at Pick-iup bank then took minor road to Hoddlesden en-route to Rushton's Height.Dazingdale26/11/2017
from car park at SD 751704 with Rushton's Height and Hog Lowe Pike. lots of new barbed wire fences, even across ROWs and usually with horses in!joseph mitchell13/11/2017

From layby opposite Grey Mare. Crossed barbed wire fence 100 metres from pub then easily up to trig.Bramley26/05/2017
Easy short walk up verge then over bwf and easy moorland from Grey Mare pub. This proved to be a happy trip down memory lane for Dad who used to get the bus out here as a teenager in the 1940's with @15 members of Blackburn Model Aero club to fly their gliders and petrol engine model planes(all hand made) along the crest of the slope across the road. This was before radio control so they set the rudder to make it fly in circles or lit a fuse to burn through to drop a pin to bring their gliders down. Dad still has the cup he won in 1951- before he moved on to motorbikes.Chris Pearson27/03/2017
Solo. From Dean Clough Visitors Centre, Haslingden Grane CP (with café & toilets). CP locked in the evening.ADT16/02/2017
Parking not possible actually along the main road although there is a very small surfaced area at the very start of the footpath due south of the summit (alt 1151ft). If looking for this make sure no cars are behind you as you may have to suddenly turn into it. Would advise reversing in as it makes exiting easier. From here follow the track right until just beyond the hay bales, cross the stile and then stride the wire on the left to make a bee line alongside the wall/fence. Vague path leads through the rushes and around the north of the top. From here you can negotiate the fence to reach the trig.moorsman21/10/2016
from the cafe, watch your bits on the barbed wire,bardolph27/04/2016

From Haslingden Grane Visitor Centre. Nice walk along the edge and it's a good view over the West Pennine Moors. Would make a good horseshoe with Hog Lowe Pike... another day...Jake99430/09/2013

Rushy Hill, 377 metres and a P33 hill with a trig point plus a view of Darwen Tower, plus easy access from the road. Photo on Geograph.Dugswell206/02/2012
From rough lay-by on B6232 opposite Gray Mare pub at SD 73152 23989. Walked along verge of road then nipped over fence. The ascent to the summit trig pillar is quite easy, over fairly acceptable terrain. There are plenty of rushes from whence the hill gets its name but these are easily avoided.David Gradwell03/01/2011
