Parked at Harboro Rocks car park and walked up through the rocky outcrop to the summit and trig pillar. Then over to Longcliffe Hill | matty1971b | 29/10/2023 |
Parked in a layby to SSE. Over a gate and across field. Visited both tops. | PGCE | 06/10/2023 |
Harboro Rochs and Longcliffe Hill. From car park to the E of the factory, across high peak trail and round to the right. Found ourselves in a clay pigeon shooting area, passed a number of new-looking “throwing” machines, then passed a warning notice. Climbed to the trig point and down past the old mine structures. Interesting self supporting staircase, erosion cleared the once supporting structure beneath it. Onto the high peak trail heading NW. A rusted 5 bar field gate on the left gives easy access to Longcliffe Hill. A choice of 2 summits on a N S line. From there down to the road by a gate beside a new looking electricity sub station and back to the car park. | Malcvolm | 18/05/2023 |
After Harboro Rocks from P @ SK 2430 5486. Handy over gate off High Peak Trail @ SK 2386 5546. Visited both lumps. | summitsup | 02/04/2023 |
Up FP from SW, past farm and across pastures to top. Visited both mounds and rock in next field. Onto Harboro Rocks and Middleton Moor. | PeterD | 05/12/2022 |

30 min loop of harboro rocks and longcliffe hill. Grizzly day, but nice to be out. Parked at harboro Rocks car park. | Nicky C | 30/10/2022 |
A bike circuit of the Carsington area hills - Middleton Top, Stainsbro Hill, The Moumtain (not a tump), Rakestone Hill, Badger Moor, Madge Hill, Longcliffe Hill. Access from HP Trail to N. | steveb2006 | 19/10/2022 |
I parked just to the east of the works at 8:30am. I headed along the track with the Great Crested Newt signs where I saw a Whitethroat and Redstart. I headed up to the trig and summit rock. Lovely views to Charnwood Forest and the Midlands Plain ruined by the noisy works and the wind turbines. I then headed down to the Midshires Way which I followed before heading up Longcliffe along the Limestone Way. To gain the summit I had to get over the double barbed wire fence. I saw Magpies Mistle Thrushes a Wheatear and Goldfinches amongst others. Lost the Limestone Way and ended up to far west so had a longer road walk back to the car. Time taken 75 minutes for 3.14 miles. Solo no other walkers. | isabelle | 02/08/2021 |
From Harboro Rocks. Left the High Peak trail at around SK 23875 55457. No fences to cross from here to the summit, just broken down walls. One you wouldn't bother with if it wasn't on the list. Solo | RoguePulsar | 17/07/2021 |
Parked in lay-by south of Manor farm from where I bagged 3 summits. Harboro Rocks, Longcliffe Hill and Slipper Low | dazedemon | 19/09/2020 |
With Ed aftet climbing at Harboro Rocks. | John Eley | 06/09/2020 |
From High Peak trail and footpath with deviation through fields of pasture and electric fences. A fine fresh morning. Perfect place for an Abney but somehow I've left it in the car. | RichardM | 29/01/2020 |
Parked in layby to S of Manor Farm, then took Concessionary Bridleway (not shown on OS map) E to High Peak Trail. Then RoW SW, before working way through broken down walls to final awkward BWF which needs to be crossed to access summit. | Wheelsy | 04/10/2019 |
On Limestone Way | mavero10 | 01/09/2019 |
Mon run after separating from Sal, Brian and Graham. Clear. The first time. Got electrocuted slightly. | davechaffey | 03/06/2019 |
With Dez, Pete and Mark | NottsOutdoorLad | 22/03/2019 |
From High Peaks Trail where it was clearly signposted. Full day running from Cromford to Matlock (35k) with hill tops inc Harboro Rocks, Longcliffe Hill, Slipper Low, Minninglow Hill, Blake Low, Blakelow Hill, Masson Hill. With L1bby. | Fionalevey | 14/08/2018 |
From/to Harboro Rocks walk down the High Peak trail to access both hills via the public footpaths, turning off the ROW when appropriate. A direct line between them meets with a high railway embankment to scramble up/down. 3.59 km return starting off from the car park south of Harboro.60 minutes. 128m ascent. | moorsman | 10/03/2018 |
Clear and mild afternoon walk to Harborough Rocks Tump and trig followed by Longcliffe Hill with its sheep skeletons. Parking to the SE after factory and RoW. | Dugswell2 | 11/01/2018 |
Parked in lay-by SK 238550. Easy, straightforward ascent | carole engel | 31/12/2017 |
Parking: For both Harboro Rocks and Longcliffe Hill, good sized layby SK 24322 54872. At Longcliffe Hill summit went to both bumps and rock to make sure. | David Evans | 14/04/2017 |
A run in the snow from Carsington, via the non-existent footpaths in the works above Harboro Farm, to bag Harboro rocks. Probably done it before whilst climbing but just checking. Then the High Peak Trail and Limestone way to Longcliffe Hill. A couple of walls and barbed wire fences to contend with, but the electric fence is non-functional. Not the most exciting hill in the world. Back via HPT, and a fab bum slide into Carsington to cap it off. | Gill | 11/02/2017 |
With Penda, from home, via Carsington and Brassington, then on to Harborough Rocks and back via Carsington. 4h 45m. Approached from Brassington via the Limestone Way and had to thread around walls and fences to reach the top. Easier exit via gate to High Peak Trail, obviously the best way up too. | beorwulf | 25/10/2016 |
Parked at entrance to track going up to small fenced off installation. Pasture land. One bwf to negotiate. | Campbell Singer | 28/09/2016 |
Really nice hill, lovely rock formations on top, especially the one with the ruin. I was on the way west to find a cave, which I failed to do, though I think I might have been sat by the entrance at one point without noticing. | DanHolme | 08/04/2016 |
Solo | simon and co | 29/02/2016 |
From Harboro Rocks along High Peak Trail then left onto Limestone Way | Mark Sims | 14/11/2015 |
Bagged hill from High Peak Trail along with Harboro Rocks. | Neil Haslewood | 05/09/2015 |
A lovely little limestone hill but awkward walls /and final fence to summit knoll. Sheep and cows. In 2014 nearby Brassington became the second village in the UK to have a 'Speedy Shop' vending machine installed. | Chris Pearson | 08/08/2015 |
A long tump-bagging loop around Carsington Water: Kirk Ireton - Rakestones Hill - Biggin - Badger Moor - Atlow - Madge Hill - Brassington - Longcliffe Hill - Middleton Moor - Stainsbro Hill - Carsington Water east shore - Broom Lane - Kirk Ireton. Approached from the west then descended east to the High Peak trail. | davidpettit84 | 05/07/2015 |
From Harboro Rocks across Trail, across old pits or whatever then fields to tarn with crag behind. Above this not far to summits - flat grass knoll or grass knoll pap. Don't think the rock in next field is as high. | Aye Jimmy | 10/02/2015 |
3rd hill of 6 today starting from Cromford;Bolehill, Middleton moor then Pennine Bridleway and used Limestone way to get as close as possible. Slipped under 1st set of barbed/electclesrified wire and climbed over next wall with same obstacles. Grassy knoll appears the highest. Exited by climbing and jumping over dry stone wall further down and back under break in wall to rejoin Limestone way and then Pennine Bridleway. | Dazingdale | 14/12/2014 |
359M, 4M, knoll E side of wall appears highest point; pinnacle W side poss as high/higher. | RHW | 18/03/2012 |
