26 mile clockwise circuit from Weags Bridge using bike between hills. First hill of 6 - accessed from RoW to west. Bright sunny day.steveb200625/10/2023
Parked on verge to SE, under trees. ROW, then over gate and up to trig and summit.PGCE05/10/2023
2nd of two tumps on a 13.8km circuit from Weags Bridge via Wetton Low, Castern wood nature reserve to Rushley Bridge, fp to Slade House then Soles Hollow and as others have stated via woodland to the ridge and out of vision to the top a few metres South of the Trig pillar. This hills completes the Staffordshire tumps and the Trent catchment-at last. Descent NE to reach track beside river and I followed this all the way back to the start.Dazingdale29/07/2023
From SK 1037 5175 via the gate @ SK 1014 5266 in Soles Hollow - hence, no walls/fences need climbing. A fine little top.summitsup02/04/2023

Started from Weag's Bridge after a fine porridge and tea camper van brekky. Along to Thor's Cave (v.impressive) then rejoined Manifold Way to Wettonmill. Up through NT Ossoms Hill woodland and onto grazing fields. Slight detour to the summit then into Grindon for 2nd breakfast. ROW to Saucefield Farm and Lee House footbridge. Muddy, narrow, indistinct in places climb to Farwell Lane then much easier trek along Soles Hollow ROW, incorporating an up and down to Soles Hill. returned back to camper via Manifold Way. A great walk of around 4 hours.summitter17/05/2022

Parked at entrance to track to Throwleymoor Farm then along RoW to Soles Hollow. Over gate, thru field to steep summit slope + trig. Bit disconcerted to see a bull near the summit then ran back down leaving Martin limping along. A cracking little hill.John Eley28/08/2020
Lovely hill but on private land. I decided to walk through the farm to the SSW hoping to ask permission. This worked well as the farmer's partner had seen me approaching. She phoned him and he gave me permission. She walked through the farmyard with me and showed me the way to go.clivevilla30/06/2020
With whole family and the Thompsons. Approached from N via Soles Hollow. Steep but straightforward climb from ROW to summit through pasture. 189m ascent.RoguePulsar04/01/2020

Met the landowner as I was walking to the summit. A great chap. Has no problems with people visiting the hill provided they use the gate from the lower path and don't climb any walls. Very easy walk with the aforementioned gate leading into the field which leads uphill to the top. 2.99 km return. 45 minutes 147m ascent.moorsman09/03/2018
Unhindered access up pasture from Soles Hollow then along delightful grassy ridge to summit. Fine views. High point 12m S of trig pillar.RichardM22/02/2018
Made this a lot harder than it needed to be. Decided to visit Old Park Hill and then got brambled to death on the way down to the Manifold Way. Followed the muddy 'Other route with public access' south until it left the woods then headed up W to the ridge where it was possible to stay out of sight of the farm all the way to the top.Wheelsy31/12/2017
Tump and trig with Alex after parking passed Throwleymoor Farm then down the footpath then over 3 gates keeping away from farm.Dugswell203/11/2017

Used f/p going N starting to SE of Throwleymoor Farm. Much activity around farm meant going further N than desired before ascending to ridge. Fine summit at top of quarry wall with trig nearby.Aye Jimmy17/03/2016
From Weags Bridge along the beautifully lush, narrow, meandering Manifold Valley to a slippery limestone footpath up through a wood and encroaching nettles to open pasture for a steep climb to a grassy summit ridge. The Manifold cycle track was once The Leek and Manifold Valley Light Railway - built to a 2 ft 6 inch narrow gauge to reduce construction costs. It mainly carried milk from dairies and also provided passenger services to the small villages, most of which were high and steep climbs up above the valley-bottom stations (e.g Grindon).Chris Pearson26/07/2015

Trig revisit: Nice summit, pasture, fine situation, lovely viewsRHW21/10/2006
On a 'figure of 8' walk with Pete, based on the Manifold Valley: Weag's Bridge- Beeston Tor Fm.- Mere Hill- Soles Hill- Soles Hollow- Weag's Br- Wetton valley to Manor House- Wetton Hill via SW Top- Wetton- Thor's Cave- Weag's Br. Full of interest, in showery but overall pleasant weather. When we did this walk, I'm not sure there was permitted access to this hill, but we crossed a stile from Soles Hollow and went straight up: the N ridge was the highlight, though I think where it steepens, we doubled back to Soles Hollow.pwheeler06/04/2004
