Logged Descriptions  (logged by 50 users)ByDate of Ascent
Heavy rain and winds. Parked in gateway opposite start of fp for 10 minutes on basis that the farmer had more sense than to venture out in such grim weather. Boggy trudge across tussocky moorland.Campbell Singer14/01/2020
Moonlit walk across saturated grassland.Wycombe Wanderer09/12/2019
Easier access than expected. Over gate 70m NE of trig, then virtually flat 400m walk each way on a quite well defined path which forks near the ‘summit’ to arrive at a 1m wide higher bump in the path making easy to locate the highest point. Almost dry today.Nick Caunt26/02/2019
Large CP in Barley. Only £1. Grassy path from a post with a sheep skull carving in the sculpture park to a stile into the summit field.mart079714/12/2018
No parking on road to east. Parked east of Black Moss Farm SD 833418. Followed tracks to ladder stile as described below on ascent but took direct line back to NE corner of Resr for descentcarole engel27/12/2017
A pleasantly easy stroll. Roadside parking available just east of the house where the road widens (alt 278m). Backtrack to the start of the reservoir access track, then, when you reach the forest there is a sign inviting you to enter and explore the sculpture trail. Follow the track half way up the hill until an obvious trck goes off to the left. At the bend, look for a laffer stile over the wall and follow a path to the summit. 2.81km, 40 minutes, 105m ascent.moorsman27/10/2017
6th and final hill on a wet and windy today on a route from Gargrave station to Barrowford, climbing Mickleber Hill, Acliffe hill, Nutter Cote Hill, Weets hill and Wheathead height, descending Sw to Mountain farm, then Ssw to Black Moss farm onto fp SE then off over gate to climb over wet pasture to a fence to open access then direct over moorland to the summit close to some reeds. Descent over tricky wall to visit trig then series of fiddly footpaths NE of Brown hill picking up Pendle way over amazing cylindrical stepping stones veering off E over series of gates and fields to drop into Barrowford for accommodation overnight.Dazingdale21/10/2017

Round from Barley. Stang top moor followed by Wheathead Height then along road and past reservoirs. Just under two hours. Took longer than expected because of detours round the bullsLongwojo15/09/2017

From the large car park in Barley village. Stang Top Moor & Wheathead Height. Someone's painted the nearby trig point claret & blue! Solo.ADT02/07/2017
Parked just down Downham Rd from junction. Up road to stile then trig and through wall to top.Bramley18/02/2017
Parked at 838420, which did for Wheathead Height as well. Along road to 836413, then fp to tasteful purple & pale blue trig. Then west through gap in wall over hurdle & under bw to summit. Not very inspiring.ngthack30/03/2016

Quick visit, parked in very bad spot at stile due E of hill. Fortunately farmer didn't show. Featureless and debatable summit of rough grass about 200m beyond trigpoint. Fine views of Pendle.Aye Jimmy19/03/2014
