As ronaldo333. Parked in large layby to NNE & SW along byway to Greenland Farm (lovely bungalow). Sought permission & received a very warm welcome from 85yr old Joe, invited inside & offered a cup of tea. Through gate at side of bungalow & up over pasture (no horses) along W. side of wall to OS surface bolt which lies about a foot away from wall. Did a bit of gardening, so it should be visible for a year or two. | gerrybowes | 16/02/2024 |
Parked in layby on Back Lane and walked up road to stand alongside summit field. Head was above highest point. | peter4lc | 24/12/2021 |

Harrop Edge from GR: SE 09747 34856. Access Permission from couple at house Greenland Farm, really friendly wanted to make us a hot drink. The field currently has two horses and deeply churned up. New summit position put forward being the OS surface bolt at SE 09618 34729. This is one metre higher than the highest natural ground around the covered reservoir and agrees with the trig point position from the OS six inch maps from the 1890's. | ronaldo333 | 25/01/2020 |

Possible to park alongside the reservoir as the summit (wherever it is) can be reached within a couple of minutes. The road summit gives the same height as the highest point behind the reservoir! Visited them both ..... in case .... | moorsman | 17/02/2017 |
with K, walked from Cottingley via Chellow Heights. | IanHHill | 13/02/2017 |
a walk around 2 TuMPs Harrop Edge & Chellow Heights (closest I could get was the golf course) & 3 trigs from Lingbob. | joseph mitchell | 09/02/2017 |
1st hill of 5 today, on a route from the Victoria Hotel in Atherton to Halifax station. Got a gps reading of 306m on Back road approaching from the North and also in adjacent field bank next to house (gate was open and people were not about). Climbed over gate and did a circuit on the flat top and then did circuit around base before proceeding onwards towards Soil Hill. | Dazingdale | 05/02/2017 |
Not a fan of covered reservoirs, but this one is easy enough to get to! Possible natural high point on the verge further up Back Lane? | the_adam | 23/12/2016 |

Only 1 km from Egypt but No pyramid just a flat topped reservoir, climbed with Darren and the field behind. Egypt itself is surprisingly only 1km south where much quarrying took place in the18th C using the Elland Flags sandstone from the Carboniferous Coal Measures, not for building pyramids or the Sphinx but for providing stone for enclosure walls, mills and housing. However they did build the 'Walls of Jericho' -high retaining walls either side of the steep narrow lane to keep back the waste rock. | Chris Pearson | 25/07/2016 |

Another YWA covered water tank, seem to be common in these parts. This one has easy access though, and usual large flat top. | Aye Jimmy | 17/03/2014 |
